Bindi Irwin shares the mental health struggles in the midst of a grueling health battle

Bindi Irwin has revealed that her ongoing battle with endometriosis has affected her mental health.

Talking to the Courier Mailthe Wildlife Warrior said her symptoms “snowballed” after the birth of her daughter Grace in 2021.

“My mental health was failing because I wanted so badly to be the best mother to her, while some days I couldn’t get out of bed,” said the 24-year-old.

“She’s the reason I had the strength to get help,” she added, admitting that the illness had left her feeling “lonely and isolated.”

Endometriosis is an often painful condition in which the tissue that lines the uterus also grows outside the uterus.

There is a wide variety of symptoms: pain can affect areas ranging from the abdomen and lower back to the pelvis and vagina.

Other symptoms include painful intercourse, abnormal periods, nausea, bloating, and pain with bowel movements.

In March, Bindi received an outpouring of support after she opened up about her horrific decade-long battle with the condition.

Her family, friends, fans and fellow celebrities all sent their best wishes as she recovered from surgery in New York City in May.

“My mental health was failing because I wanted so badly to be the best mother to her, while some days I couldn’t get out of bed,” said the 24-year-old.

Bindi posted a photo to Instagram of herself in the hospital after the procedure, which was performed by endometriosis specialist Dr. Tamer Seckin of the Seckin Endometriosis Center at Lenox Hill Hospital.

Dr. Seckin removed a total of thirty-seven lesions and a “chocolate cyst” – a term for a cyst filled with menstrual blood.

Bindi’s brother Robert, 19, shared a heartfelt message to his older sister on Instagram saying he was so proud of her.
