Worryingly, she saw a piece of tarpaulin and a bottle of water nearby, leading her to believe this was a planned attack.

The Malaysian-born ultra trail runner, who recently moved to Heptonstall, West Yorks Londonwas saved by an emergency alert on her £400 Garmin watch.

The terrifying ordeal took place on Tuesday morning as the 36-year-old walked a route between Albufeira and Vilamoura.

She reported the attack to the police Police after the scare.

The tax specialist said in one Instagram post: “When I was doing my session around the honey farm today, on my second repeat a man ran out of the bushes, grabbed me and pushed me to the ground.

“He then started trying to take off my shorts. I offered all my valuables and he wasn’t interested.

“Luckily my Garmin “crash alert” was activated when I was thrown to the ground. I thought, I’ll lie and say this is the alarm to call the police.

“He then took my watch and fled. So yes, £400 less.”

Revealing that she was assisted by two friends, she added: “Run to the path and saw Kevin and Sharon who helped me and got me to safety and called the police.

“I was crying my eyes out and couldn’t see because the attack was powerful and my contact lenses fell out.

The little-known islands in the Algarve where only locals go on holiday – with fewer crowds, beautiful beaches and no British people

“I’ve never felt unsafe running and we’ve run in some dodgy places.

“Honestly, thank God for my Garmin, well, RIP Garmin, he’s with a rapist now!

“It was premeditated because at the rape scene there was a piece of tarpaulin on the ground and a bottle of water.

“Thank God for all my strength training and the fact that I was able to push him away at the right time. God, so damn stressful.

“So if you know anyone who is running in the Algarve, please tell them not to run around the honey farm alone. PLEASE.

“However, the GNR police were absolutely great and could not blame them.

“They were so fast and there were about 4-5 cars and vans and a cute dog to find the culprit. He’s still on the way, so…

“I honestly don’t know if I can train the rest of the week, or if I’m ready race at Crawley in three weeks… but luckily I came away with only a few scratches on my face, arms and legs and one Garminuk.’

She branded her attacker ap***k and scum in a subsequent post, saying: “Running has been an outlet for me, and I bloody love running.

‘It is unthinkable that this is almost taken away.

“Honestly, in those five minutes of trial, I thought I might not make it.

“All I was thinking in my head was: I’ve worked so hard in my life to get where I am now (work, life, nice house and running, husband and friends) and I don’t want this p***k to ruin my life.

“I’ve always had to fight to get where I am today and even though it seems like I have everything, believe me, every step of my life has been a struggle.

‘Fighting to get into the big four, to stay in Britain to deal with bullyinglong hours, exams… just to send money home to support my father who has a heart attack and has been in healthcare for 10 years!

“I am not a talented runner and rely heavily on a good and challenging plan…

“And I also didn’t want to catch what this scum has in his damn body, and literally fought with every inch of strength in my mind and body.”

It is not clear whether police have made any arrests.

In addition to the GNR police, the Portuguese PJ police were also alerted and a sniffer dog was mobilized.

Alison has mentioned it in the past Job interviews how she started running after moving to Britain to study.

She took up ultrarunning after suffering a serious ankle ligament fracture in 2018 and read a book about the demanding sport recommended to her by her physiotherapist.

Alison holds the record solo time on a 300km route visiting the highest points of all 32 London boroughs.

And it has been revealed that she used to run around 100 miles a week.

She started doing ultrasounds in 2019 and placed second in her first 100 miles.
