Five Israelis, aged between 19 and 20, are accused of raping the young woman several times at the party resort.

Her lawyer Michael Polak told The Sun as the trial began Last year: 'She is determined that justice is done.

“She is determined that no one suffers the same way.”

The British's testimony in the Cypriot district of Famagusta court comes more than five months after she told it Police of how she was forcibly dragged into a hotel room in Ayia Napa and raped several times.

Prosecutors said she has since been given maximum protection to conceal her identity.

Speaking exclusively to The Sun, court insiders said that “in a very rare move” the evidence would be heard “behind closed doors”.

One person said, on condition of anonymity: “Unprecedented steps Measures have been taken to ensure that there are no leaks.

“What is said in court will stay in court because it is considered so sensitive.”

The woman is said to be prepared to give evidence until the end of the week 'if necessary'.

Police said the young tourist was “very upset” when she reported the alleged attack, claiming she met the suspects on September 2 at a pool party at the Federana Gardens Hotel.

The accused men have denied the allegations against them, saying they had “consensual” sex with the woman.

All suspects, residents of the northern Israeli Arab town of Majd al-Krum near Acre, have been taken into custody in the central part of Cyprus. jail since October.

District Court Judge Petros Theophilou refused to grant them bail, ruling that there was “reasonable suspicion” that the men were involved in the alleged incident.

The young woman picked up the suspects from a police line-up.

Hours later, she told police she was “grabbed by the hand, pulled by her hair” and attacked.

Her testimony, which The Sun has seen, is too moving to publish.

DNA evidence linking two of the suspects to the alleged attack was ruled inadmissible by the court last month after judges found that standard police processes had not been followed when the evidence was collected.

But all five men still face charges of rape, kidnapping, sexual harassment and indecent assault.

A diplomat who closely follows the trial says: 'Precisely because the DNA evidence in the case of two of the suspects has been discarded, everything now relies on witness statements.

“That's why what happens in that courtroom this week is so important.”
