Brittany Cartwright has opened up about why exactly she chose to divorce husband Jax Taylor.

At Thursday evening’s premiere party of the new reality series The Valley, the 35-year-old star said Page six: “We’ve been together for nine years, and after a while people stop appreciating you and take you for granted – and that should never happen in a marriage.”

“So I’m trying to get that back,” she added. “And if it doesn’t come back, we won’t get back together.”

Cartwright also explained in the publication that a lack of sex in their relationship negatively affected her self-esteem, before noting that she has learned to look inward to rebuild her self-confidence.

The mum-of-one said: ‘I guess I just had to say, ‘I’m hot as hell, and I’m not going to listen to this crap anymore.’

She added with a laugh, “You can rot in hell! I’m sorry,” quotes her famous line from a 2017 season six episode of Vanderpump Rules.

Cartwright, originally from Kentucky, has been living in an AirBnb since January.

The Bravolebrity also revealed, “I asked [Jax] doing little things – four little things – and going to therapy was one of them. He hasn’t done that yet.’

She continued, “So there are little things I’ve asked him to do. We’ll see if he does it all, but also if it changes anything.’

Brittany also noted that her estranged partner is reluctant to see a therapist due to his history with mental health professionals, saying he has been “burned by therapists” in the past.

“So he’s concerned about that, and I certainly understand that. But there are certain things we can work on together,” she said.

The media personality made a note to say, “I’m not saying I’m perfect by any means, but obviously I had to come out and take care of myself and my son.”

She and Taylor share two-year-old son Cruz, and the proud mom gushed about the toddler, “He’s doing great.” He’s so happy. I feel like when he’s with mom he’s so happy, when he’s with dad… he’s doing well, he’s doing great.

“That’s obviously more important than anything in the entire world.”

The former VPR star has been open about wanting another child — something she said she would do with or without Jax.

It’s another point of tension in their marriage.

“That’s absolutely nothing you’ll see play out all season and a whole ‘no other reason why we are where we are now,’” she teased.

She mentioned a sperm donor as an option and referenced former costar Lala Kent, admitting, “I would go the Lala route in a heartbeat if I had to. I admire her for that. I want more children; I want Cruz to have a brother or sister. I come from a family of five, so I have three brothers and a sister, and I love that big family dynamic.”
