Tassi notes that even as Netflix makes unpopular changes, it continues to see strong subscriber growth.

These changes include cracking down on the use of Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) and banning people from using each other’s accounts.

“Netflix is essentially saying here that it will continue to raise prices because it can,” Tassi says writes.

“The increases will not lead to widespread cancellations,” he explained.

However, in a new post on Reddit linking to the Forbes article, Netflix users say they are indeed canceling their subscriptions.

“Family canceled our subscription today,” one commenter noted in the thread.

“I can live without Netflix,” another apathetic subscriber added.

“Stop being put off by auto-pay. I’ll only subscribe to one plan at a time, see what you want and move on to another,” a third person said.

“We don’t have time to look at everything at once,” she added.

“I’m about to cancel my membership simply because I can…” said another Reddit user.

Just a few months ago, Netflix announced an increase in subscription fees for users in the US, UK and France.

The streaming service revealed that users on the basic plan will pay $11.99 per month, up from $9.99.

And those who pay $19.99 per month for Premium would have to pay $22.99.

Meanwhile, the $6.99 ad-supported plans and the $15.49 standard plans remained the same price.

Netflix is one of several streaming services to have increased prices in recent months.

Recently, Amazon Prime came under fire for adding ads to its Prime Video content.

Users either have to deal with the distracting ads or pay more for the ‘ad-free’ version.
