Shoppers are loving the ‘fabulous’ Primark blazer dupe for classic Chanel style

CHANEL’s tweed blazers have an eternal allure, with checks in all sizes making a statement on the rough woolen fabric.

But with second-hand versions typically selling for $1,000 or more at auction, this isn’t a style that many of us will encounter.

The French fashion house has a rich history of iconic designs created by its founder, Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel.

Coco was instrumental in popularizing plaid design in women’s clothing in the early 20th century.

The pattern, which the brand’s directors still emulate in its ready-to-wear collections, reflects Chanel’s original vision of creating clothes that empower women.

But if you don’t have more than €1,000 to spend on a tweed blazer, where should you go?

Well, Primark for the dupes… of course.

The fashion giant’s Tartan Bouclé Structured Blazer features a texture similar to tweed, with a large white and navy blue checked design.

Described as “perfect for your all-occasion wardrobe”, the garment will set you back £36 – not a bad price for a jacket that looks like it’s worth a lot more.

“We don’t need to tell you what a versatile basic blazer is in a smart-casual wardrobe,” said Primark bosses.

“But there is a lot to be said about the iconic nature of a tartan style like this.

“Crafted from a tartan bouclé fabric that creates timeless texture and depth, this blazer features a classic notched lapel, long sleeves and two rows of decorative buttons down the front.”

“It is lightly tailored for a textured look,” they continued.

“Whether you pair it with jeans and a T-shirt in a smart-casual style, pair it with the matching skirt and a blouse for formal occasions, or something in between.

“We’re sure you’ll think of plenty of ways to wear this statement piece.”

Primark’s social media team shared a video of the jacket in action during Milan Fashion Week via Instagram.

Liv Nash said she was ‘obsessed’ with it, while another shopper wrote in the comments: ‘The jacket is fantastic.’

“But how nice is that blazer?” asked Michelle Kr.

Margaret Dolan simply called it a “great outfit.”
