AN unsuspecting woman sang the blues after realizing she didn't recognize the famous singer she was speaking to.
She was still recovering from the encounter.
“I swear to God one time I asked Taylor Lautner how do I know you went to high school together and he was like no other. I was in Twilight and yet that's not my most embarrassing celebrity interaction,” Eva said Evans (@itsevaevans).
She admitted that she doesn't have strong facial recognition, which has led to some horrific accidents.
Eva recalled her most high-profile encounter yet, which took place at her ex-boyfriend's popular restaurant in downtown New York City, which is often frequented by celebrity clients.
It all started when her ex introduced her to a couple who were waiting for their table while she sat at the bar.
It didn't take long for the woman to fill the empty seat next to her.
“The guy and my ex start talking. They're more like friends anyway, so I want to make sure she feels at home,” she said.
She admitted that she likes to talk, especially after a few drinks, but she didn't hesitate to start a conversation.
She even asked the woman where her upcoming wedding would take place.
“She's like, 'England in the summer, I hope you can come,'” she mimicked in a British accent.
Eva even replied that she would like to come because she loves London.
She also inquired about the woman's profession, to which she replied that she was a singer.
“And I thought, that's so cool, but honestly, I'm a filmmaker, the entertainment world is so hard and singing feels especially hard, how does that work? She said 'pretty good'.”
She still had no idea who she was talking to.
'Before you know it their table is ready and as they leave I say goodbye, it was so nice to meet you Ellie.
“I sit down and as they're walking away, I suddenly asked – it dawned on me – and I turned to my ex-boyfriend and I said, was that Ellie Goulding?”
She may have been a little late to the recognition party, but her then-partner confirmed that she was indeed right.
“And I think about this biweekly. I've really tried to go from one starving artist to another, to Ellie Goulding,” she said.
It had not escaped her notice that the singer was one of the highest-grossing pop musicians in England at the time.
Some of her fans thought the star might have even enjoyed the interaction.
“Honestly, she might have been happy to have someone talking to her like a real person,” one follower said.
Still others revealed their own embarrassing celebrity encounters.
“I asked Busta Rhymes if he could help me take off my heels because my nails were too long,” said another viewer.
“This is my favorite, lmao,” she replied.
“When Leonardo DiCaprio introduced himself to me, I laughed at him and said Leonardo isn't fat! Who are you anyway? I think about this every day,” said another audience member.
Goulding first rose to fame in 2009 with her hit single “Under the Sheets.”
