What do you think about TikTok naming every beauty trend?

“I absolutely love that TikTok is naming beauty trends because it encourages people to try new makeup products and techniques that they otherwise wouldn’t. People can then see which products/techniques work for their face and which do not.”

What is your favorite makeup trend this year?

“My favorite makeup trend this year is the Strawberry Girl trend! I have just launched a new Patrick Ta Beauty blush in the color ‘She’s Wanted’ which gives you a beautiful berry effect. It looks like you just came back from vacation with a natural blush.”

Which customer makeup was your favorite this year and why?

“My favorite client makeup this year was on Gigi Hadid for the NMACC Gala in Mumbai in April. I loved this look because I feel like it reflects the makeup I like to do, which is very bronzey. It also allowed me to travel and experience a new culture.”

What is your favorite makeup look to do?

“Skin and overall complexion are my favorite things to focus on when creating makeup. My preference is for a look where I concentrate on the skin and then create a striking lip or a striking eye.”

What do you think is the right way to apply makeup? Foundation first?

It really depends on the appearance. If I’m doing a bold and smoky eye, I start with the eye and then do foundation. If I want a more soft and natural eye, I would start with the foundation.”

How has your own makeup technique evolved over the years?

“My makeup technique has evolved enormously over the years. My career started at the MAC counter with very heavy makeup and then I moved to Hollywood where I worked with models and actresses – that’s when my technique became more natural. I then started working with more musicians/singers, which led to bolder looks. Currently, I think my technique is now in the perfect in-between area, which is more everyday red carpet makeup.

For people who aren’t very familiar with making their own makeup, what’s the best way to get started?

“The best way to start is by finding earth tones that suit you best and accentuate your natural beauty. Just start with that.”

How often should we replace our foundation, eyeshadow and beauty brushes?

“I think a Beauty Blender or a beauty blender-style sponge is the most important makeup tool to replace if you can’t clean it, or if it has cracks or tears. I think brushes can have a longer life depending on how well you take care of them.”
