Cyclone Biparjoy: Western Railway cancels 69 trains, short notice 32 | Check the list here

Aside from canceling the trains, the Western Railways said several safety measures have also been put in place for rail travelers from these cyclone-prone areas.

IRCTC Latest News: Earlier on Monday, the Western Railway had canceled a total of 67 trains due to Cyclone Biparjoy.

Cyclone Biparjoy Last update: Taking preventive measures in view of Cyclone Biparjoy in Gujarat, Western Railway canceled 69 trains on Tuesday and suspended 32 other trains in the state at short notice. Aside from canceling the trains, the Western Railways said several safety measures have also been put in place for rail travelers from these cyclone-prone areas. The Railways said refunds are possible under existing rules.

According to the Railways, three more trains stopped for a short time, one train ran briefly and one train was restored to run to its destination.

List of short running trains

  • Train No. 09452 Bhagalpur – Gandhidham Special trip which commenced on 12th June 2023 will shortly end in Dhrangadhra and will remain partly canceled between Dhrangadhra and Gandhidham.
  • Train No. 12938 Howrah – Gandhidham Garbha Express journey which commenced on 12th June 2023 will shortly terminate at Dhrangadhra and will remain partly canceled between Dhrangadhra and Gandhidham.
  • Train No. 12994 Puri – Gandhidham Express which started on 12 June 2023 has a short stop at Ahmedabad and remains partly canceled between Ahmedabad and Gandhidham.
  • Train No. 12476 Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra – Hapa Sarvodaya Express which started on 12 June 2023 and was previously communicated to go to Rajkot, now runs to Hapa railway station.

Western Railway cancels 67 trains

Earlier on Monday, Western Railway had canceled a total of 67 trains due to Cyclone Biparjoy.

Meanwhile, India’s Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange warning for cyclones along the coasts of Saurashtra and Kutch in Gujarat on Sunday.

The Indian Coast Guard vessels are patrolling off the coast of Gujarat in anticipation of the approaching Cyclone Biparjoy, an official statement said on Monday.

Deputy Director General (Ops) Manish Pathak gave details on Monday that the Indian Coast Guard has taken all preventive measures regarding the approaching Cyclone Biparjoy.

“Indian Coast Guard has taken all preventive measures. We have warned all fishermen, although there is a fishing ban on the west coast of India from June 1 to July 31. However, land boats, the smaller ones that were at sea, have been diverted back,” DDG Pathak told ANI.

On Monday, Modi chaired a high-level meeting to assess the readiness of the center and Gujarat ministries/agencies to deal with the situation posed by the approaching Cyclone Biparjoy.
