David Krumholtz apologized for messing up Hilary Duff's experience during the Disney World Christmas Parade over twenty years ago.

In a series of posts shared via XKrumholtz, 45, recalled arriving at the parade in 2002 and being told to dress like his character from Santa franchise, Bernard, including donning the elf ears and costume.

Krumholtz noted that he had not expected this wardrobe, and that he instead planned to wear a Disney sweater with “Pluto in a Santa hat sewn onto the front.”

“I can't adjust to this news,” he wrote on Monday, February 12. “I will be in full costume (no wig) dancing elf on a float with Hillary Duff [sic] who will sing the song she recorded for the film's soundtrack.

Krumholtz then called his publicist, who swore “up and down” that it was never mentioned that he would dress up as his character. Krumholtz added that he “never thought [he’d] wear that st again,” joking that his “image [was] threatened.”

“I tell them I won't do it,” he wrote. “I refuse. I set myself up riding solo on a horse-drawn carriage in front of Hillary Duff's [sic] rapid. Like me. Myself. David f-king Krumholtz. In a Pluto sweater.”

Krumholtz realized he had “banned” them, adding that he felt “bad” but “justified.” Krumholtz eventually got the green light for his idea, and he remembered 36-year-old Duff, who stood alone behind him on Sinterklaas 2 float during the parade.

“I turn around, look back at her and give her a friendly wave,” he wrote. 'I've never met her before. She responds with a pissed off “what the f-k?” shrug. I turn around again. “Okay, don't look at Hillary Duff [sic] again.' I'm High. I'm doing well. This is going to be great! Regis Philbin host!”

He continued, “We're leaving. Hillary [sic] lip syncing behind me. Regis announces me to the audience, but does NOT say that I am playing Bernard. It seems like the entire crowd of tourists starts shouting, “Who ARE you?” to me. I shout back: 'I'm playing Bernard the Elf!' They can't hear me. Unbearable.”

Krumholtz noted that he hasn't worked for Disney for 20 years after his parade incident, adding that he has yet to reunite with Duff and that he owes “her a debt of reparation.” (Krumholtz played Bernard again in 2022 during the Disney+ series The Santa Clauses.)

“I accept the elf thing now,” he concluded. “Note to actors: never shit work. You are not above the privilege of working in film and television. I am an idiot. The end.”
