Death In Paradise actor Tony Gardner reveals the prank his kids played on him after he missed Glastonbury for the first time

It is one of the biggest events in the calendar year with several famous faces.

But one person who had to miss this year’s Glastonbury Festival was actor Tony Gardner.

The star of the hit BBC series Death In Paradise revealed to fans that he’s only missed it once before.

And even though he didn’t go, his children – who were at the festival – made sure he was there.

Tony, 57, posted a photo of his children at Worthy Farm holding a flag with various images of him all over it.

The photos were of his various states of his Glastonbury experiences over the years, with the words ‘Forgotten but not gone’ on the flag.

Glasto every year but not this year and in recent years have been whining about all the flags with pictures of the dearly departed ‘RIP Gordon’ etc, etc x’

In another image of the flag in more detail, Tony captioned it: ‘I’m not a fan of the flags at @glasofest. In recent years there has been a trend of flags with pictures of deceased family or friends – RIP Gary, etc – so not only can’t you see the stage, but you’re looking at dead people. A bit of a mood killer.

‘In my absence this year to appear in @anarchistwestend my family had this flag made which only arrived today so will not be rolled out at the festival. Probably a good thing.’

Fans quickly responded to the hilarious photo with one writing, “I actually laughed at this.”

Another said, “Moving tribute,” while a third, “Kids. All heart.’

Tony is currently reprising his role as Superintendent Curry in the theater production of Accidental Death of an Anarchist, which caused him to miss the festival.

Describing his character, Tony said he is “pompous, emotionally unstable, and a bit dumb.” A perfect combination for any comedic actor’.

The show is a political farce written by Dario Fo and his wife Franca Rame in 1970.

Glastonbury is back this year for its 51st edition.

Lucky campers have been treated to dry weather and sunshine all weekend, with temperatures reaching 29C.

Headliners included The Arctic Monkeys, Guns and Roses and tonight Elton John makes his debut.
