Taylor Swift and Emma Stone have remained one of Hollywood’s closest celebrity besties over the years. The two first met at the 2008 Young Hollywood Awards. “I was listening to some of her music and wrote her an email saying I liked her music, I swear,” Stone told MTV News about their friendship. […]

In the first verse, Swift sings, “When Emma falls in love, she calls her mother / Jokes about the ways this could go wrong.” She waits and takes her time / Because little Miss Sunshine always thinks it’s going to rain.

In the chorus, Swift sings, “To tell you the truth, sometimes I wish I was her,” prompting listeners to reference a 2011 interview in which Swift admitted she’d like to be Stone “for a day.”

“She’s one of my really, really good friends and she’s so funny,” Swift said at the time, adding, “If I could be that funny for a day that would be great, so I would be Emma.”

Fans also wondered if the lyrics were a reference to Stone’s ex Andrew Garfield or Kieran Culkin – or if the song is not about romance at all, but about a tribute to friendship. Whether or not the song was inspired by Stone, it’s clear that she and Swift have maintained a close bond after first meeting in 2008 at the Young Hollywood Awards.

Elsewhere in the interview, Stone admitted that she’s been to three of Swift’s Eras tour quits ‘until now’ and remembered watching the concert in Phoenix, Arizona.

“What was really special about the first night of her tour was that I had no idea what to expect, obviously because it was the first night,” Stone said, adding that Swift worked with choreographer Mandy Moore for her tour, with whom Stone had previously collaborated La La Land. “It was a lot of beautiful things that all came together, and it was incredible to see.”
