He spent the January period without a team and was linked to another Brazilian side, Palmeiras.

But now, according to Fabrizio Romanohe has signed a deal with Gremio, which will be his twelfth professional club.

It is Costa's fourth team in less than two and a half years after spells at Atletico Mineiro and Wolves.

Over the past three seasons he has scored just eleven goals in 66 games.

The rather unimpressive spell included one Premier League goal in 25 games for Wolves.

But he is still fondly remembered for a few golden years at the top of European football.

Costa made his name with Atletico Madrid, winning La Liga, a Copa del Rey title and a UEFA Super Cup.

They also reached the Champions League final before losing to Real Madrid.
