EastEnders fans left in fear of Stacey after their theory about Theo’s ‘secret’ was confirmed

EastEnders fans feared for Stacey Slater on Wednesday as their theory about Theo Hawthorne’s sinister ‘secret’ turned out to be correct.

Viewers had theorized that the teacher (played by William Ellis) was Stacey’s mystery client who went by the name of “Edmund” on her racy OnlyFans-esque webcam site.

And as the credits came to a close, their premonition proved true, as it showed Theo checking in on Stacey minutes after she left her house.

Theo arrived in Walford earlier this year as part of Freddie’s storyline, but has recently expressed an interest in helping pregnant Lily Slater.

After offering to tutor teen Lily (Lillia Turner) for free because she is taking school off due to her pregnancy, the latest episode showed Lily’s father, Martin Fowler, getting suspicious about why he would help out for free.

He took a trip to Theo’s old school and questioned the receptionist about everything she knew about him.

She just told him, “You didn’t hear it from me.” If I were you I would stay away from that man. He’s caused a lot of trouble here.’

Martin then made his way to Stacey’s house, where Theo was having dinner, and confronted him about his theory that he was a pedophile.

Martin said, “I just went to your old school. I want to know exactly what kind of man spends time alone with our daughter.

“It’s good work I’ve done. The person I spoke to said they were about to investigate you but you did a runner before they could. She suggested you were in an inappropriate relationship.”

He continued, “He buys Lily gifts. He treats her like his best friend. Doing all this one-on-one tutoring with her for free so he can be alone with her.

“I’m sure I’m not the only one in this room who thinks he might be a paedophile.”

Stacey exclaimed, “Martin!”

Theo agreed, “You’re dead wrong.”

Martin got excited and continued, “Okay, tell me. Because I’ll find out the truth, mate.’

Theo confessed: ‘I had a relationship with another employee of the school. She was angry. So she lashed out to hurt me. Made all sorts of accusations saying I bullied and hurt her.

“It would have been too hard to prove, so in the end I thought it would be better to just leave.”

Confused, Martin asked, “So if what you’re saying is really true, why didn’t you just stay?” Is your corner fighting?

Theo continued, “Because it was her word against mine. I was already burnt out from work and my mental health was quite fragile at the time. I just couldn’t handle it.’

Martin looked at Stacey and asked, “You can’t believe this, can you?

“Something’s not right, Stace.”

Stacey got angry and said, ‘You have no proof Martin! What is it? Are you jealous?’

Martin stuck to his theory and said, “He’s wrong.”

When Theo left the house, you could see him logging into his phone just as Stacey sat down to work on her racy OnlyFans-esque webcam site.

The mother (Lacey Turner) recently struggled to make ends meet and turned to online sex work as a means of earning extra money – with one mystery client in particular paying extra money for private sessions.

As the episode aired, fans shared their thoughts on Twitter.

Another said, “It was so predictable that Theo was the stalker. Stacey in grave danger. Martin is the only adult with a sewn head.’

A fourth said, “Edmund is… a scary teacher. Clearly’.

“I knew it was him!” Another said.

Since fans believed that the creepy Theo is indeed Stacey’s stalker, some think they came up with a huge Christmas twist for the character.

Earlier this year, a special flash-forward episode confirmed that someone from Albert Square is going to be killed this holiday season.

A man was seen dead on the floor surrounded by six women: Denise (Diane Parish), Kathy (Gillian Taylforth), Linda (Kellie Bright), Sharon (Letitia Dean), Stacey (Lacey Turner) and Suki (Balvinder Sopal).

In the scene where the women stood over the body, Sharon confirmed that he was definitely dead.

Viewers currently have no idea if it was murder or an accident, but some clues from the scene have revealed possible theories.

More information will be revealed in the coming months ahead of the Christmas Day episode, when all will be revealed about who the killer is and who is dead.

However, some viewers shared that they think Theo is the victim and will be revealed as the murdered character on Christmas Day.

One of them shared their theories online, writing, “There’s definitely a possibility that Theo Hawthorne could be a wild card for the Christmas murder.”

A second said, “Are you starting to think Theo is the one who was murdered at the Vic at Christmas??? If I’m not mistaken it’s Stacey and Denise standing over him with the possible murder weapons. The thing that connects them – Lily’s baby! I feel like this storyline is taking a dark turn…”

While a third saw the most potential killers featured in the episode, writing: “stacey & denise, stacey & kathy and kathy & sharon scenes tonight… 5 out of six.”
