Flight attendant reveals the WILDEST stunts passengers do to try to get an upgrade to first class – as she tells how airline staff are really trained to handle it

Everyone arrives at the airport hoping they won’t be moved to first class, but a flight attendant has now revealed the extreme lengths people go to for a bit of luxury in the air.

Flight attendant Destanie, who often posts her travel tips and tricks on TikTok, shared what flight crews do when they find someone in a seat class they are not allowed to sit in.

According to the 25-year-old, who does not say which airline she works for, they would ‘never allow that’.

“If someone wants to change cabins or even get an upgrade, that has to be handled with the gate agent,” says the Philadelphia resident explained. “Flight attendants don’t concern themselves with that.”

She explained that some people have told her that the airline she works for is even considering giving people upgrades as theft because the passenger didn’t pay for the ticket.

“Usually the first class is always full,” she added. ‘So people don’t really have the space to do stupid things.’

If there are spots in first class, Destanie, who often shares videos on TikTok about her life as a flight attendant, says they have a sort of tier system for assigning the empty seats.

“If you have a credit card or a certain status with the airline, they usually get people upgraded,” she explained.

“There have been several times where guys have attacked me thinking I was going to move them to first class,” Destanie laughed. “Because they said I was beautiful.”

She even told a story from a few months ago when a man tried this tactic, walked up to her and told her she was “so beautiful.”

“For example, this is the most beautiful cabin crew I have ever seen,” the man is said to have said.

Destanie said she knew what he wanted after pointing out that he could see an empty first class seat.

“I literally looked at him dead and thought, ‘I’m not going to take that compliment right now,’” she said.

TikTok users shared some of their own experiences flying as passengers, or even as part of the cabin crew

However, the flight attendant revealed that these were not the first class seats that people usually look for when boarding the plane.

“What people do all the time is they try to get to the exit rows,” she said. “Exit rows are upgraded seats and on my airline you get free cocktails if you sit in the exit row.”

She added that the exit lines are not immune to people trying to sneak into the seat.

“One time this guy moved and literally argued back and forth with me,” she recalled.

Destanie said the man argued “back and forth” and told her he could help an emergency – which she said didn’t work.

“You can’t go to the chair, it’s an upgraded chair,” she explained.

Some TikTok users used the app to share their own flying experiences and thoughts about them.

‘I was moved to first class when I was flying with my newborn and was having a hard time! The flight attendant was great about that,” one woman said.

“Free cocktails in the exit line?” someone said in disbelief. ‘I always assumed they wanted down-to-earth people in there. I’m afraid if I’m at the exit I’ll get side-eye because I have some.”

‘I am a gate agent and have enormous respect for my colleagues in the cabin. I can’t imagine being stuck with those not so nice people for hours,” one TikTok user wrote.

The flight attendant ended the TikTok by saying that she is kind, but firm when it comes to dealing with customers.

“I just want to be nice at first, but you have to move,” she said.
