Josh Giddey’s agent has reportedly been fired from leading management company Octagon after posting a controversial statement on social media.
Daniel Moldovan was deemed to have committed a “gross” violation of company policy after he became aware that he had attacked a Black Lives Matter post in support of the October 7 Hamas massacre in Israel. News Corp.
Moldova is a prominent figure in Australian basketball and was instrumental in landing Giddey’s big shot in the NBA. He will remain Giddey’s representative despite his Octagon split.
The high-profile agent joined Octagon after building his Lighthouse Sports Management company, becoming the most powerful agent in sports Down Under.
He also represents Dyson Daniels, NBL MVP Xavier Cooks and Chris Goulding.

Moldova is an Orthodox Jew and has previously spoken out about the tragedies in Gaza.
He responded to an Instagram post from a Black Lives Matter chapter in Chicago, which posted a photo of a paraglider with a Palestinian flag and a caption that read, “I stand with Palestine.”
In the October 7 attack, Hamas used paragliders to descend on a music festival, killing hundreds of people and kidnapping others across the border.
“72 hours after terrorists paraglided into a music festival and massacred 260 young people,” Moldova responded. “This is how BLM has chosen to symbolize where their support lies. F*** BLM and anyone who supports them.”
The BLM post has since been deleted.
The increased attention on Giddey and those close to him comes amid separate NBA and police investigations into the Oklahoma City Thunder star’s alleged inappropriate behavior with a minor.
Photos of Giddey with a girl were recently posted on social media.

Giddey was asked about the allegation on Saturday as he returned to the basketball court and said: “Yes, I mean, I obviously understand the question, but there is no further comment at this time.”
He took to court on Tuesday evening and was booed by opponents.
