Lately, however, many Netflix subscribers have expressed their dissatisfaction with the platform.

Specifically, some users have taken to social media to express their dissatisfaction with the content they recommend.

“I wish they would remove all the stuff I watched from all categories except 'Watch it Again,'” said a person with the handle @Jackaloop in a Reddit thread.

“It's frustrating to have to scroll through the same things over and over again when I know there are a lot of things I didn't see just because I didn't see them appear,” the person continued.

“Yes. I wish I could hide items so they would never show up again,” another Reddit user shared under the thread.

A third Reddit user agreed, but noted that they had some luck under the “More like this” tab.

“They're rarely anything like the show I've seen, but they're often obscure things that don't appear in any of the other suggestions,” they noted.

Another Netflix subscriber called the algorithms an “absolute disgrace.”

“The level of technology we live with CANNOT rule out algorithms that do what you say and many other simple things,” they noted.

Meanwhile, Netflix has aborted the process of its recommendation algorithm on its website.

It noted that it estimates the likelihood that a user will view a particular title in its catalog based on several factors.

These include looking at a user's interactions with the Netflix service, such as their viewing history and how they rated other titles, and comparing them to other members with similar tastes and preferences on the service.

Other points taken into account include the time a person watches Netflix, the devices they watch Netflix on, and how long they watch.

“All of these pieces of data are used as input that we process in our algorithms,” Netflix said.

They noted that the recommendation system does not include demographic information such as age or gender.
