The cast and crew of Griselda reveal what REALLY happened behind the scenes, including Sofia Vergara's off-camera desires and a creepy ghost encounter during filming

She's been working on the project for almost fifteen years and now fans will finally get the chance to see the one and only Sofia Vergara play Colombian drug lord Griselda Blanco.

Sofia, 51, completely transformed her appearance and her usual acting regimen to portray the so-called 'Cocaine Godmother' – who at one point earned more than $80 million a month smuggling cocaine into the US.

The comedy actress, who is best known for her role as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett in the TV sitcom Modern Family, admitted that it had been both “a pleasure and a torture” playing Griselda, and even spent two months rehearsing certain monologues for scenes in the series. six-part series.

Now, the cast and crew who worked with Sofia on the Netflix show have spoken exclusively to DailyMail.com and revealed what the actress was really like when the cameras stopped rolling – and even confirmed a big secret they kept from her on set kept.

Aurora Cossio, who plays one of Griselda's smugglers named Estela, admitted that a certain filming location was “haunted” — and led to her carrying a lime in her bag to ward off evil spirits.

One particular scene was filmed at The Queen Mary in Long Beach, California, and Aurora revealed that a makeup artist was left shocked after hearing the whispers of a ghost before the cameras started rolling.

Asked about her most memorable day filming, Aurora told DailyMail.com: 'I remember everyone was talking about the ghost in The Queen Mary, the make-up artist said, “We were in and someone whispered to me, get out!”

“And she ran off like a crazy maniac and burst into the make-up artist's trailer and told us this story and I said to her, 'You have to say exactly what you heard, every detail about your experience with ghosts in this boat.'

'She said, “There was no one there and I heard very clearly someone saying go away, and I felt so cold in my body, and I just ran away.” And for me, of course, that was very memorable and I can't forget that, it was actually a very difficult place to be,” Aurora continued.

'And so I used a bracelet with stones to keep ghosts and evil spirits at bay. Everyone was talking about it, especially the makeup team who spent the most time there.”

Aurora added, “No one wanted to tell Sofia, so I guess Sofia doesn't know about that, we just kept it to ourselves. I am very sensitive and I took that seriously. I mean, I saw her face when she walked into the makeup trailer, she was shaking.”

Fredy Yate, who plays Jesus “Chucho” Castro in the series, also remembers it being creepy on set, saying of The Queen Mary, “It's haunted!”

When asked if he thinks it could be the ghost of the real Griselda, the Colombian actor replied: 'Maybe! Because we were working with a very powerful energy and we were talking about Griselda, Griselda, Griselda all the time!'

Aurora agreed, saying, “I'm not sure if it was Griselda's ghost that showed up, but oh my God, who knows!”

Another behind-the-scenes detail that both Fredy and Aurora revealed were Sofia's favorite snacks when the cameras weren't rolling — and it turns out she has a serious sweet tooth.

'Sofia loves cakes and candies and candies and cookies! Aurora explained. 'She is addicted to cakes and sweets. She made me try these amazing cookies and now I can't live without them!

“She always ate special cakes and stuff from her favorite bakery. And I just remember trying everything, and I normally don't eat sweets, but she loves them! She just loves cakes and sweets and stuff, she's always eating, eating, eating all the time!'

'It's true! She likes sweets all the time!' Fredy added. 'I said, “Oh my God, how can Sofia eat so much candy and look so good?” Because she's thin, she's in shape, but she eats donuts, she eats cakes, she eats all the time on set!

“She brought us pizza, donuts and saying “guys eat it, eat it!” and sometimes I stopped eating because I was getting fat! And I had to be in shape for my suits because they had taken the measurements and my suits were made!'

In addition to being concerned about not fitting into his costumes, Fredy was also concerned that he might accidentally injure Sofia during filming, as in one scene he was forced to drive a van with only one hand.

“I remember we were filming a scene and Chucho had injured his arm and he had to wear a sling, so I had to drive with just one hand – it was so hard for me,” Fredy revealed.

'So I was really scared because all the other actors were in the van laughing and joking and Sofia was sitting next to me. I was so scared because I had to drive a little close to the edge and I noticed that if I had a problem with that, we could have ended up in the ocean!

'My hands were sweating and the whole crew was laughing and crying and talking and I finally said, 'Okay, please, give me a second to drive this van! This is a billion dollar van because in it is Sofia and the singer Karol .” G!”' I had to concentrate and focus!'

Narcos actor Alberto Ammann – who plays Sofia's second husband Albert Bravo – also opened up about filming in a car with Sofia and admitted they “laughed a lot” – despite their scenes together being so intense.

Speaking about working with the brunette actress, Alberto, 45, said: 'She's so open, but she's very professional. She knows the business… I don't like to say the job, because it's more than that, but we talked and laughed a lot.

“When we were shooting the scene in the car, I said to her, 'Sofia, this guy is terrible,' and she told me… we were talking in Spanish, and she said to me, 'Yes, you you're a sh*T!” and we laughed a lot.'

However, Fredy revealed that Sofia seemed like a completely different person by the end of filming and wasn't joking at all.

“Sometimes we would act strangely on set because we were living out our characters,” he explained. “Sophia went crazy at the end of the show. At first she was so funny, she enjoyed everything.

“I felt like at the beginning of the show she was fresh, funny, joking all the time, because you know, she has a really great sense of humor and she was always joking, but then at the end of the show she was different, completely Griselda.'

In addition to wearing a wig, fake teeth, fake eyebrows and an artificial nose, Sofia spent more than two hours a day in the makeup chair before filming and even learned how to smoke real cigarettes for the role.

Aurora explained that Sofia did this to “build the character of Griselda,” revealing, “It's a process and the construction of the character and it's not easy.” I know she was on a detox after filming.”

Fredy added: “I think Sofia tried a lot to be different from Sofia. She didn't want to look like Sofia or Gloria, her last character, but I think she still looks beautiful.

'I really admire Sofia because she had been struggling with her career for many, many years and she wanted to change for this role and she did a great job. She's fantastic.'
