The presenter, who helped homeowners fall in love with their homes again for 19 seasons, has decided to leave the series.

“It’s time for me to move on and take on new challenges,” the 72-year-old said People. “I told everyone I’m done.”

The beloved designer explained the reason for her decision.

“I realized that all I am as a woman is that [that I] look for challenges, look for inspiration, look for new ideas, be excited about all the possibilities that are out there, that really needed to blossom and find their way,” she added.

The Designing Christmas actress said she is grateful for the community she has been a part of since the DIY show launched in 2008.

‘It got me through difficult times. It has helped the public through difficult times. It has become a mainstay of people’s lives and it is incredibly fulfilling,” she explained to the outlet.

During her 19 years on the show, Hilary has undergone a series of serious life changes and challenges.

‘This show included divorce, cancer, my son getting married, having three children and the end of my long-term relationship. My partner of all these years even got cancer,” she revealed.

The veteran presenter said when she broke the news to co-host David Visentin, 58, he was in disbelief.

‘He didn’t believe me. He said, ‘Oh, you say so.'”

She describes the real estate agent as family. ‘We are who we are [in real life] on that show,” she claimed, adding, “Think of your brother at his most obnoxious and obnoxious, that’s David.”

She credits her old boyfriend for sticking by her through good times and bad. “I was fighting cancer all the time and he was always there,” she said. Her treatment included three lumpectomies and radiation. She is now in remission.

But the illness made the septuagenarian very aware that he really wanted to enjoy every day, and that’s one of the reasons it was time to leave Love It or List It, because it became too easy. .I was in a rut. It’s been so many years. You want to feel like every day is something different and special and take on those challenges. That’s really what drives me.’

She said David “had his little rough spots here and there, and we were there for each other. Yeah, that’s a biggie. I don’t know if that will change.’

Hilary wasn’t sure what the future holds for Love It or List It, but said she “wouldn’t be surprised” if they were looking for a new co-host.

“I wish them all the luck in the world,” she said, adding that if it continued with new decorators, “I would probably tune in and watch it.”

Hilary seems to enjoy the challenge of helping couples with their homes and their relationships on her show Tough Love with Hilary Farr.

She shared a photo on social media on Thursday evening to mark the conclusion of production on season two of the reality show, which debuted on November 6.

‘TOUGH LOVE SEASON 2 It’s a wrap! I just filmed the last episode. Stay tuned to find out when it airs. And a Tough Love marathon!’

And while nothing has been finalized about a third season, she teased, “We’ll see what happens there. I’m not leaving at all.’

Her next challenge is one that will help her plan to enjoy new challenges, including La Dolce Vita. She has bought a piece of land in Italy and plans to build a small house there.

‘That will be an adventure!’ she argued.
