An iconic 1980s band has been forced to sell their concert tickets for a fraction of the original price as they struggle to fill their upcoming show.

Electro-pop duo Ochestral Maneuvers In The Dark may have been around for 46 years, but it seems their popularity is waning.

The band, fronted by Wirral lads Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphreys, play London’s O2 next Sunday, but they are being forced to sell tickets cheaply.

The musicians have engaged a seat-filling service to ensure there is a sufficient audience on the evening.

Officially, tickets retail for upwards of £60, but the band have also quietly listed the show on the website ShowFilmFirst, with tickets priced at just £10, in an attempt to sell out.

MailOnline has contacted OMD representatives for comment.

During their long career, OMD has sold 15 million albums and 25 million singles and boasts an impressive seven Top Ten singles, including Enola Gay and Maid Of Orleans.

They inspired Depeche Mode to make music and their characteristic influence can still be heard in artists from Lady Gaga to Radiohead.

But after their success in the 1980s, the pair took the conceptual exploration to disastrous extremes with their provocative 1983 album Dazzle Ships.

“Every record we had made had gotten bigger,” Andy previously explained. ‘Inevitably we thought, “We can do whatever we want and people will buy it.” ‘

Dazzle Ships dazzled neither critics nor audiences and while their previous album sold three million copies; Only 300,000 of Dazzle Ships were sold.

The despondent boy friends broke up in 1996 and barely spoke for ten years. Their relationships also suffered, with both men separating from their partners.

After OMD, Andy stayed in the pop world and formed Atomic Kitten with Kerry Katona, Natasha Hamilton and Liz McClarnon.

He co-wrote their number one hit Whole Again and made Kerry Katona a star.

He previously admitted: ‘She wasn’t a good singer. But Kerry was the driving force behind the band.”

OMD reconvened in 2005, partly at the behest of a TV show, but also because Andy’s children wanted to see what their father did for a living.

In their current year 2024 they travel through Europe and Great Britain for a large number of shows with their new record Bauhaus Staircase.
