Great -Britain recruits a new weaponsar in an attempt to lower waste at the Ministry of Defense – which could earn more than double the prime minister's wage.
The high -flying role of civil servants, advertised by the government last night, will potentially arrive at a maximum of £ 400,000 a year, plus bonuses.
The new 'national arms director' will supervise a £ 20 billion budget that will try to ensure that the forces of the nation have enough kit to wage war.
It will also see the potential candidate who leads to building the British defense industry, amid the growing threat of war with Russia.
The vacancy said that the postholder could receive a salary of £ 290,000 and £ 400,000, plus an annual bonus up to 60 percent of the salary.
It means that the total wage package has the potential to reach no less than £ 640,000 – which would be about three times as much as the £ 172,153 salary of Sir Keir Starmer as PM.
Defense Secretary Jon Healey said that the new role could help to save the taxpayer £ 10 billion and to deliver a more 'muscular' forces.
He said: “At the moment we have to rise Great Britain. I see this as a new FTSE 100 company within the MOD, charged with obtaining the very best options needed in the hands of our front line forces. '

Mr. Healey said that bureaucracy had the mod in 'process and procedure' 'entangled' and led to 'duplication', with 11 different financial departments that 2,500 people used to do 'the same activity in different places'.
“We have added complexity where simplicity is needed,” he added. 'In purchasing we have a situation in which we employ 11 donors for every decision maker, so no wonder that it takes six years on average before a large program simply goes on a contract.
'[We have] A system where only two of the 49 major defense projects are now on time and with budget. '
Mr. Healey announced the plans and added that a new senior command structure would be rolled out to improve the 'accountability' in the mod.
This will consist of the 'quad', consisting of the head of the Defense employee, the permanent secretary, the Chief of Defense Nuclear and the new director of the National Armination.
