Inside Out 2: Everything you need to know about the Disney and Pixar film

Prepare to have your emotions turned upside down like those of Disney and Pixar Inside out 2 will hit theaters in the summer of 2024.

Inside out premiered in 2015 and followed a young Riley as she is uprooted from the Midwest to San Francisco by her parents. After the move, Riley’s emotions — Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness — are “at odds with how best to navigate a new city, home and school,” according to the synopsis.

Amy Poehler, who voices Joy, announced during the September 2022 D23 Studio Showcase that the animated film will be getting a sequel. “Pixar makes Inside out 2!” she shouted to an excited crowd.

The first look at the upcoming film was released in November 2023. After experiencing a surprise “demo day” in Riley’s mind, Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness are introduced to Fear, voiced by Maya Hawke.

“Who made the console orange?” Joy early in the video Before Fear, an orange character, showed up and was teased, she isn’t the only new emotion they’ll have to deal with as Riley grows up.

What is ‘Inside Out 2’ about?

The new film follows the original five emotions as they deal with new emotions that arise in Riley’s mind now that she is 13 years old.

Which emotions return?

Besides Poehler’s Joy, Lewis Black will return as the voice of Anger and Phyllis Smith is back as Sadness. Tony Hale joins the cast as Fear, who was originally voiced by Bill Hader. Disgust is also a recurring emotion, but rather than an OG star Mindy Kalingthe green character will be expressed by Lisa Lapira.

Teenager Riley will be voiced by Kensington Tallmanwhile Diane Lane And Kyle MacLachlan reprise their roles as Riley’s father and mother.

Who are the new emotions?

Hawke’s Anxiety was the first new emotion announced for the Pixar sequel. she will be accompanied by newcomers: Ayo Edebiri as envy, Adele Exarchopoulos as Ennui or boredom and Paul Walter Hauser as shame.

The rest of the new characters include hockey player Valentina “Val” Ortiz (Lilimar), Coach Roberts (Yvette Nicole Brown) and Riley’s BFFs, voiced by Sumayyah Nuriddin-Green And Grace Lu.

What did the official trailer reveal?

Inside out 2‘S full trailer dropped on March 7 and introduced the OG emotions to the three other newcomers, which doesn’t seem to be a good thing.

“This is Joy coming to you, living in Riley’s mind!” Joy says in the video, as clips of Riley in a hockey uniform come into view. Joy then reintroduces her friends, Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness, to the audience, while using a sports announcer’s voice.

Joy complains that Riley “grew up so fast” as a home movie of when she was thirteen appeared on the screen. Just as Fear is about to tell the group that nothing will be smooth sailing from here with Riley, Fear swoops into the room, followed by Envy, Boredom, and Shame.

“I know change is scary, but we need new friends or we’ll be all alone in high school.” Out with the old and in with the new,” Anxiety tells everyone as she takes over the control panel.

Fear claims that “Riley’s life requires more refined emotions than any of you” before bottling up Joy and the other basic emotions. “We are repressed emotions!” Fear screams.

The rest of the trailer teases that Joy and her OG emotions will have to work together to get back to the forefront of Riley’s mind and stay relevant.

When will ‘Inside Out 2’ be released in cinemas?

The animated film will make its box office debut on Friday, June 14.
