In her videoMudhurrah (@designmstudio) explained the importance of planning ahead when decorating your home.

For her first tip, the TikToker advised her audience against “impulse purchases without a plan.”

“Selecting finishes and purchasing furniture impulsively, without a clear plan or vision for the overall design, can result in a mismatched and cluttered appearance,” she explained.

Mudhurrah pointed out that without planning, “your items may not complement each other or fit well in the space.”

“Before making unnecessary expenditures on items that don’t contribute to a cohesive design, it’s crucial to consider color schemes, overall style and the size of the room,” she said.

The decor expert elaborated on the importance of scale and proportions.

“If you choose finishes and furnishings that are too big or too small for your space, it can look cramped, empty and unbalanced,” she told her viewers.

“It is essential to measure your space, including ceiling height, and carefully consider the scale of each piece before making a purchase,” Mudhurrah said.

“Ensuring that furniture fits comfortably in the room and coordinates well with other items will help avoid costly mistakes.”

Finally, she advised her followers not to “prioritize trends over timeless elements.”

“The constant pursuit of fleeting trends can lead to frequent renovations and updates, resulting in unnecessary costs and a lack of design continuity,” she explains.

“To avoid this, it is important to identify personal style preferences and invest in elements that can withstand changing trends.”

However, Mudhurrah pointed out that trendy elements can still be incorporated into the space “through easily replaceable items such as decor pieces.”

She explained that this allows for updates without incurring major costs.
