Former UN inspector David Albright, based in Iraq, believes Iran could mass produce the deadly uranium in just weeks.

Tehran already knows how to build nuclear weapons with the right materials, and it is not the first time fears have been expressed about their plans to do so.

Modern nuclear weapons require uranium enriched up to 90 percent – and inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Authority (IAEA) believe Iran could do this very soon.

The British Minister of Defence Grant Shapps has also warned the world that Iran has already enriched uranium by as much as 83.7 percent.

That's what former IAEA expert Albright said: “The unfortunate reality is that Iran already knows how to build nuclear weaponsalthough there are some unfinished tasks related to its actual construction.

“Iran can quickly produce enough weapons-grade uranium for many nuclear weapons, something it could not do in 2003.

“Today it would only take about a week to produce enough for its first nuclear weapon.

“It could have enough weapons-grade uranium for six weapons in one month, and after five months of producing weapons-grade uranium it could have enough for twelve.”

In a report for the USestablished Institute for Science and international security, Albright said Iran has already mastered enrichment and missile technology, two of the three pillars for building a successful nuclear weapon.

While Iranian scientists are still figuring out how to weaponize the uranium to make the weapons, they are still only part way there.

This is not the first time fears have been expressed about Iran's access or production of nuclear weapons.

The danger in the Middle East lies in Iran's nuclear weapon. We understand that they are quite close to creating a nuclear weapon. Once they do, the balance in the region will change.

Colonel Hamish de Bretton-Gordon

In In 2022, the Supreme Leader boasted about how the country could “produce an atomic bomb” after Biden ended a four day trip to Israel And Saudi Arabia where he vowed to stop Iran from “acquiring a nuclear weapon.”

Now that the world is turned upside down”most dangerous and volatile moment” in historythe risk seems even greater.

Iranian terrorist organizations – including Hezbollah and the Houthis – have repeatedly risen against Israel, the US and Britain since the October 7 attacks and the war between Israel and Hamas.

And Tehran's financing and far-reaching influence has proven time and time again to be a deadly background force.

Former British tank commander Colonel Hamish de Bretton-Gordon told The Sun that Iran is “the great axis of evil in all of this”.

“They are behind everything that is going on,” he added.

“The danger in the Middle East lies in Iran's nuclear weapon. We understand that they are quite close to creating a nuclear weapon.

“Once they do that, the balance in the region will change.”

Production of nuclear weapons

This pillar of making a nuclear bomb involves building the highly explosive nuclear trigger system.

It sets in motion the chain of reactions that results in the devastating moment of impact of a nuclear bomb.

Albright said: “Armament is the pole that needs more work.

“It includes theoretical calculations and simulations; development, testing and construction of the other components of the nuclear weapon.

“The conversion of weapons-grade uranium into metal components, the integration of all components into a nuclear weapon and the preparation for mounting the weapons on aircraft or missiles or for use in a large-scale underground test.”
