John Oates is radiating good vibes despite recent legal action taken against him by his former Hall & Oates bandmate Daryl Hall.

The 75-year-old guitarist, singer and songwriter shared a peaceful message to X (formerly known as Twitter) on Wednesday, a day ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday.

In his caption, he called for a “more compassionate and supportive world,” although it is unclear whether he was indirectly responding to Hall receiving a restraining order against him.

The day after Oates’ social media post, TMZ revealed that Hall filed for the restraining order to prevent Oates from performing certain songs.

The two, who form the most commercially successful duo in music history, have numerous hits and other popular tunes, some of which were written together, but many of which were written solely by Hall of Oates.

In his new role, Hall traded his famous mustache for a salt-and-pepper goatee, and wore a purple shirt with oval polka dots on top of a white undershirt.

He also had on an intriguing pair of angular sunglasses and a floppy suede hat.

“In this time of shared reflection and connection with loved ones, let us not forget those facing challenges around the world,” he began his post.

“As we come together, please consider providing assistance to those in need – either through local charities or international humanitarian initiatives,” he continued. “May our collective efforts contribute to a more compassionate and supportive world. —JO’

Oates’ post appeared online the day after Hall reportedly obtained a restraining order against him, following a lawsuit he and his trust filed against Oates and his trust.

The lawsuit file has been sealed by a judge, but he is reportedly accusing Oates of breach of contract.

Subsequent reporting revealed that the filing concerned both who gets to perform the duo’s chart hits and questions about royalty payments.

The duo had its greatest success in the 1980s with hits such as You Make My Dreams and the Billboard Hot 100 topper Maneater, but the group’s roots go all the way back to the late 1960s.

It wasn’t until 1972 that they released their debut album with the funny title Whole Oats.

Their first few LPs were largely ignored by audiences and critics alike, although they received renewed attention and positive reappraisals after Hall & Oates began scoring hit singles in the mid-’70s, including the classic track Rich Girl (1976).

Cryptic response: It is unclear whether Oates' positive post was in response to the ongoing lawsuit. Hall also obtained a restraining order against him, apparently to prevent him from performing their songs until an agreement is worked out; seen in 2019 in Louisville, Kentucky

From then on, the duo continued to generate sales into the 1980s, releasing a string of number one hits.

However, their commercial fortunes began to fade by the end of the decade and continued to decline throughout the 1990s.

The duo has been on hiatus several times in recent years, but they have never officially split, even though they continue to feud in court over the music.

Their last studio album was 2006’s Home For The Holidays.
