Kevin Clifton says he was ‘terrified’ of being away from Stacey Dooley and caring for their daughter Minnie alone during first TV interview together
Kevin Clifton has admitted he was ‘terrified’ of caring for their daughter Minnie on his own while his girlfriend Stacey Dooley worked on Stacey Sleeps Over.
The professional dancer, 41, revealed he had to look after their little girl, 14 months, alone for three days while Stacey completed the project.
The show focuses on Stacey discovering what life is like in modern Britain by spending 72 hours in the company of a wide range of characters and families.
During filming, the couple revealed that Stacey, 37, was still breastfeeding so needed to be close to Minnie and Kevin.
Kevin explained to the Loose Women panel on Thursday: ‘Minnie was still breastfeeding at the time, so we couldn’t be too far away.

During filming, the couple revealed that Stacey, 37, was still breastfeeding so needed to be close to Minnie and Kevin.
‘I was on the road in a trailer all the time. Making sure Minnie reads the same book over and over again.’
He admitted he was scared of being their child’s sole caregiver for a few days, saying, “I was terrified because I thought, ‘You’re going to be there for three days,’ what am I going to do?”
Kevin was later asked if he thinks Minnie will follow in his rhythmic footsteps and become a professional dancer when she grows up.
He said: “It’s a very competitive place where you get your self-worth from something that’s objective. With dancing you compete with the opinions of others.’
Stacey joked: ‘In an ideal world Minnie will be a librarian.’
The couple met while competing on Strictly Come Dancing in 2018 and won the show, with their romance coming to light just months later.
In an interview last year, Stacey admitted that motherhood is her ‘hardest job ever’, and for now she and Kevin have ruled out having another baby because they feel they are ‘failing’ at parenting.
Stacey also told The Sun that she is in less of a rush to marry Kevin as he has already been married and divorced three times.

Kevin was later asked if he thinks Minnie will follow in his rhythmic footsteps and become a professional dancer when she grows up.
Stacey said: ‘Marriage has never been hugely important to me. It’s also well documented that Kev has done it a few times before.
“So you have to keep that in mind when you come down the aisle and say, ‘Hey everyone, I know what you’re all thinking.’ It’s just never been something I dreamed of. But I couldn’t have done this (motherhood) without Kev.’
The star added: ‘I don’t know how people have four children. I’ve had one and completely failed.”
Stacey had previously reflected on being childless at the age of 35 while living as a nun for the BBC film Inside The Convent, promoting an emotional breakdown among the other sisters.
