Trent Alexander-Arnold claimed that although his side have not won as many trophies as Man City in recent years, Liverpool’s achievements “mean more” to the club and the fans.
He told FourFourTwo: “It’s difficult. We are up against a machine built to win – that’s the simplest way to describe City and their organisation.
“When we look back on this era, even though they have won more titles than us and have probably been more successful, our trophies will mean more to us and our fanbase because of the financial situation at both clubs.
“How both clubs have built their teams and the way we have done it probably means more to our fans.”
However, Haaland quickly hit back.
He told Sky Sports: “If that’s what he wants to say, fine. I was here for a year and won the Treble.
