Lorde appears to tease the release of new music as she puts on headphones and tells fans she’s ‘listening to myself’

Lorde appeared to tease the upcoming release of new music with a post shared to her Instagram account on Sunday.

In the photos, the 27-year-old artist wore headphones and stared at the camera as she rested her face on her hand.

The hitmaker, who recently shared a cryptic open letter that many saw as a reference to a breakup, also wrote a short message telling her nearly 11 million followers that she was “listening to myself.”

Lorde, born Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O’Connor, also wore striped beige pajamas as she posed in front of the snaps.

The Royals singer’s brightly colored hair perfectly matched the light tone of her clothing.

The Grammy Award-winning songwriter debuted two new songs during her set at the Boardmasters Festival, which took place last August in Cornwall, England.

According to Vulturethe hitmaker performed a pair of songs reportedly titled Silver Moon and Invisible Ink, although she later denied that was the final name.

Although many fans suspected that Lorde was planning to release a new album, she took to her Instagram account to reveal that she did not have a major project in the works.

She wrote, “This isn’t the start of anything out there, I just want you to know there’s a light burning inside me.”

When another fan commented that the hitmaker was trying to mislead her fanbase, she doubled down on her original denial.

“I’m serious, I literally decided to take these off my laptop…but they’re not bad are they,” she wrote.

Lorde’s most recently released album, titled Solar Power, debuted in August 2021.

The LP was preceded by three singles, including the title track Stoned at the Nail Salon and Mood Ring. and a fourth single, Fallen Fruit, was released in November.

Lorde also embarked on a tour in support of the album, which kicked off last April and ended last March.
