Madonna reportedly “ignored” signs she wasn’t feeling well to continue rehearsing for her highly anticipated Celebration tour.

The singer, 64, is currently recovering from a bacterial shock infection that sent her to the ICU late last month.

Notably, the Vogue hitmaker was found unconscious in her apartment on Saturday, June 24, and she was promptly “rushed to hospital and intubated” because she was “unresponsive” at the time.

Now insiders have shed light on Madonna’s relentless work ethic despite feeling bad.

‘She ignored some symptoms of the disease for a long time because she thought they would disappear. But she didn’t want to take time off from rehearsals,” explains a music insider People.

She was exhausted and didn’t feel 100 percent for a while waiting for her tour. She is relentless in her quest to be the best, impress her fans and do what others haven’t done before her.’

Another source repeated that Madonna had overworked herself.

“Madonna has been very busy for a long time and is not taking care of herself. She continues to push herself to the limit,” they said.

DailyMail.com has reached out to representatives for Madonna for comment.

According to the New York PostMadonna — who was set to kick off her 84-date Celebration tour in Vancouver, Canada on July 15 — was “discovered Saturday,” when she was “taken to the ICU” and “intubated overnight.”

At the time, a relative of the singer told DailyMail.com that her family had “prepared for the worst” due to the severity of the illness.

The pop star’s health scare was shared with the world by Guy Oseary, who revealed on Instagram that Madonna has been forced to postpone her highly anticipated 40th anniversary tour due to her medical issues.

Oseary stressed in his post that the singer and mother of six is ”expected to make a full recovery” and her “health is improving,” but added that she is “still under medical care.”

“On Saturday, June 24, Madonna contracted a serious bacterial infection that led to a multi-day stay in ICU,” he wrote Wednesday afternoon. “Her health is improving, but she is still under medical care. A full recovery is expected.”

The music manager subsequently revealed that the singer is being forced to postpone the start of her tour, which she has been rehearsing for months – and which was due to begin in a matter of weeks – writing: “At this time we will have to pause all commitments, including the tour.’

He did not reveal when Madonna might be well enough to embark on the international tour, but simply promised fans that he would “share more details as we get them, including a new tour start date and for rescheduled shows”.

Speaking to DailyMail.com, a source confirmed that the pop star is now “out of ICU and recovering.”

According to sources close to the singer, she’s been working around the clock to make sure her tour is nothing but perfect, with one revealing she rehearses six days a week, while another told DailyMail.com in April that she’s “everyone scaring the hell out of her with her perfectionism.’

And on Saturday, it was revealed that Madonna will drastically scale back her seven-month world tour following her health scare. The star was supposed to play in multiple cities from July 15, but the plans are being redrawn.

Madonna was due to embark on a grueling concert schedule in Canada in two weeks. Now sources have told The Mail on Sunday plans are being considered to reduce the number of concerts from 84 if her 40th Anniversary Celebration tour goes ahead.

An insider said, “In the cold light of day, given what Madonna just went through and considering she’s 64, was it really wise to book so many tour dates in the first place?”

“This schedule would be grueling for even the youngest and fittest performers. More than 70 performances around the world is extreme. Madonna and her team will have to consider shortening the schedule.’

A tour manager added that it would be a “logistical nightmare” to reschedule the tour in terms of finding available venues.

Guy Oseary, Madonna’s manager, said the singer, who was released from hospital on Thursday after being cleared, was forced to “interrupt all commitments,” including the tour.

Sources close to the singer say she is exhausted from the infection and her 12-hour days of tour rehearsals may have contributed to her illness.

It is alleged that Madonna, who reportedly had been in the recording studio hours before falling ill with Katy Perry, looked tired in the days before she was hospitalized.

On Thursday — the same day it was confirmed that the singer had been released from the hospital to continue her recovery at her NYC home — sources gave an update to TMZ on her health and hinted that she might not be well in time to begin her tour.

The sources told the tabloid that the Material Girl singer has been “vomiting uncontrollably since she was released from the hospital” and that “the infection is still wreaking havoc on her body.”

The outlet was also told two days ago that Madonna is “still too sick to even get out of bed.”

Sources also told TMZ that when she was rushed to hospital to treat the bacterial infection, she “metaphorically kicked and screamed” to be taken there. Before her hospitalization, the star reportedly had a “fever” for a month and was “hiding it from everyone.”

Insiders told the publication that Madonna was “afraid” that being sick would “jeopardize the tour,” but that not treating the infection “made it worse.”

According to the Cleveland Clinic, a bacterial infection is a “disease or condition caused by bacterial growth or toxins,” and some common bacteria-related illnesses “include urinary tract infections, food poisoning, STIs, and some skin, sinus, and ear infections,” but can be easily treated with antibiotics.

However, when left untreated, “any bacterial infection that penetrates deep into your body, such as in your blood, heart, lungs, or brain, can be life-threatening.”

Just days before she was found unconscious in her apartment, Madonna had uploaded an Instagram photo series capturing special moments while preparing for her 40th anniversary tour.

In the post’s caption, she’d eerily typed, “The calm before the storm………….”
