But while at the academy of Oslo side Lyn, he was mentored by ex-Red Devil Mats Moller Daehli, 28.

The Molde midfielder was injured in 2015, so he kept busy by returning to his first club to help the next generation.

Former Lyn coach Mikal Emil Aaserud said Bobb immediately stood out at Daehli because of his talent – and also because of his attitude.

He said: “It was inspiring for young players like Oscar to have Mats there as an additional coach and mentor.

“Everyone knew that Mats had been at United. He played in Germany and was an international for Norway.

“But he had also come through Lyn’s ranks so the kids could see what was possible.”

Bobb was 12 years old at the time, but his desire to improve stood out.

Aaserud added: “Mats saw that Oscar was already so talented and rated him highly.
