Actor and director Kenneth Branagh was also in attendance at the event, where he cut a suave figure in a navy blue suit and patterned tie.

Christopher also wore a dark gray suit as he posed for the cameras with his wife Emma Thomas.

It comes after Cillian revealed Christopher personally delivers all his film scripts on special paper that cannot be photocopied.

Oppenheimer marked Cillian and Christopher's fifth time working with the film star and revealed the director's personal approach to dishing out his screenplays.

He flew to Ireland to hand-deliver the script to the actor, with Cillian immediately reading all 197 pages.

Speaking to GQ Magazine, he said: “So it was his mother who got me the script before. Or his brother; He's leaving and coming back in three hours.

“Some of it has to do with keeping the story secret before it comes out. But part of it has to do with tradition.

'They've always done it this way, so why stop now? It does add a ritual to it, which I really appreciate. It fits me.'

Cillian also talked about how Christopher had already called him about playing J. Robert Oppenheimer in the film and said yes before reading the script.

The actor also described what it's like to work with the acclaimed director, describing his sets as an “intimate laboratory.”

He said, “Even though he works at a tremendous pace, there's always room for curiosity and discovering things, and that's what making art should be about, you know? There are no telephones, but no announcement either: everyone just knows.

'And there are no chairs. Because he won't sit down. Sometimes a film set can be like a picnic.

“Everyone has their seats and their snacks and everyone is texting and showing each other f*****g, you know, emojis or whatever, memes that I know, but why?”
