Moment survivors of Florida fireball plane crash that killed two escaped from burning wreckage as chilling audio revealed

Gruesome footage captured the moment three survivors fled the burning wreckage of a private jet that crashed on a Florida highway, killing two.

Crew member Sydney Ann Bosmans, 27, and passengers Aaron Baker, 35, and Audra Green, 23, narrowly escaped the inferno on Friday.

The plane crashed Interstate 75 near Collier County, about 47 miles southeast of Napleswhen the pilot attempted an emergency landing.

Pilot Edward Daniel Murphy, 50, and co-pilot Ian Frederick Hofmann, 65, were killed when the plane's engines cut out and it crashed onto the road and exploded on impact.

The heartbreaking video was taken moments after the crash by passing motorist Kyle Cavaliere and showed the plane engulfed in flames and leaking heavy plumes of black smoke.

“Is there anyone else in there?” Cavaliere shouts as he runs over to help.

“Yes, yes our pilots,” a woman shouts back.

When asked if the pilots were still alive, the panicked woman replied: “I don't know. I don't know much else.”

There were five people on board the plane when it crashed and the three survivors were taken to hospital, but their condition is unknown.

Harrowing audio of the final moments just before the disaster has been revealed.

“Hop-A-Jet 823, both engines lost, emergency,” one of the pilots can be heard calmly telling an airport controller.

'I'm making an emergency landing. We can land, but we won't make it to the runway. We lost both engines.”

Then the sound fell silent.

The Bombardier Challenger 600 crashed around 3:15 p.m., just two hours after taking off from an airport in Ohio State University in Columbus.

The plane was trying to land at nearby Naples airport when it lost both engines, authorities said.

Witnesses said the plane tried to land on the I-75 freeway, but the wing clipped a car and dragged it before crashing into the wall, leading to the deadly explosion.

Brianna Walker, 26, described the horror of seeing the plane drag the car in front of hers.

“It's seconds that separated us from the car in front of us,” she said.

“The wing crushed this one car… The plane flew inches above our heads. It banked sharply to the right and skidded across the highway.”

The witness said there was a burst of flames coming from the plane, followed by a big bang. “It feels surreal as a movie,” she added.

“It took us a few seconds to die.”

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

The National Transportation Safety Board has asked the public to provide videos of the plane before it crashed to help determine the cause.

Co-pilot Hofmann's devastated family have called him a “hero”.

“His final moments, calmly talking to ATC as he attempted to rescue the passengers and crew in the face of a desperate emergency involving the loss of both engines at low altitude, is how we will always remember him,” the family said. Fox 4 in a statement.

“We know our father died a hero doing his best to save everyone on the plane. We ask for prayers during this difficult time.”
