Two Missouri residents have been charged with murder in the shooting that erupted last week after the Super Bowl parade in Kansas City, Missouri, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced Tuesday.

The men, Dominic Miller and Lyndell Mays, began arguing as the gathering dispersed, authorities said, a dispute that quickly escalated when both men pulled out their guns and began shooting at each other. A bystander was killed by the gunfire.

The charges were announced nearly a week after Wednesday's Super Bowl celebration in Kansas City, which left one woman dead and 22 people injured, including nine children.

Both men accused of murder were injured by gunfire and remain hospitalized. Prosecutors say more arrests are possible.

The shooting occurred at the end of a parade that drew tens of thousands of cheering Kansas City Chiefs fans downtown.

As the meeting ended, gunshots were heard near Union Station, and hundreds of people – including families with small children – fled the scene in panic.

Two days after the shooting, two teenagers were charged with resisting arrest and “weapon-related” crimes. The teens have not yet been publicly identified and could ultimately be tried as adults after a judicial process that could take days or weeks to decide how to try them.

Elizabeth Galvan, 43, a DJ and radio host, also known as Lisa Lopez-Galvan, was killed in the parade shooting.
