Thought paradise was beyond your budget? Think again. A mum has revealed a clever hack to get return flights to the Maldives for under £300 – but there are a few catches.

Jenna Carr, known online as ‘The travel mom‘, told her 372,100 TikTok followers that they could get to the picturesque beaches of the Maldives for a total of just £275 ($338) – incorporating a few stops along the way and turning the trip into an 18-night odyssey.

In a later blog post, she updated this price and revealed how the trip could be arranged for just £248 ($304).

Of the ‘epic’ trip, which includes some ‘disgustingly cheap’ prices, the world traveler mum said: ‘You’re going to spend two nights in Sofia, Bulgaria, six nights in the Maldives, four nights in Abu Dhabi or Dubai, four nights in Jordan and a night in Bergamo before flying back home.’

Additionally, this itinerary included an overnight stay at a hotel next to Abu Dhabi airport before flying to the Maldives.

Speaking to MailOnline Travel, the savvy mum revealed how she discovered the hack. She said: ‘We are always looking for great value flights to popular destinations.’

Sharing the specific details in the follow-up blog postthe travel professional revealed that sun worshipers can fly from London Luton to Sofia Bulgaria with Wizz Air for just £17 per person.

The flight will depart on November 2 at 8:45 am and arrive in the Bulgarian capital at 1:55 pm. The flight takes a total of three hours and ten minutes.

Ms Carr advised her followers to spend two nights in Sofia before catching a five-hour flight to the UAE for an overnight stay. The flight, which departs at 1:55 PM and arrives at 9:05 PM, costs only £43.

Then enjoy a six-night stay in the Maldives, Jenna noted that return flights from the UAE can be booked for just £133 per person.

The catch: you have to endure a five-hour, twenty-minute flight without any frills Wizz Air plane to and from the Maldives. The problem is that the Wizz Air A321 aircraft flying the route is not certified to cross the ocean directly, so it has to follow an arduous route over Pakistan and India.

The outbound flight departs from Abu Dhabi to Male, Maldives at 11:45 AM and arrives at 6:05 PM, while the return flight departs at 7:00 PM and arrives at 11:40 PM.

While in the Maldives, Ms Carr recommended staying on an inhabited island, such as Maafushi, rather than a holiday island, to save even more. On inhabited islands, as we’ve reported, hotels can be had for as little as £38 per night.

After your stay in the Maldives, enjoy a longer four-night stay in the UAE, departing from Abu Dhabi to Aqaba, Jordan, for just £17 per person.

Although Jordan is a popular winter sun destination for tourists, travelers should be aware that it shares its borders with Israel and Syria.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (FCDO) this week strengthened its position on travel there. The guidelines read: ‘The FCDO advises against all but essential travel within three kilometers of Jordan’s border with Syria.’

Meanwhile, the Jordan Tourism Board said in a statement: “In light of the recent developments in Gaza, we would like to emphasize that Jordan remains a safe and welcoming destination for tourists from around the world.”

Ms Carr continued her travel advice, telling her followers to fly with Ryanair from Aqaba to Milan Bergamo on November 19 for just £25, taking four hours and 35 minutes.

After a short one-night stay in Italy, travelers can finally find their way back to Britain with a two-hour flight from Milan Bergamo to London Stansted for just £13 per person.

Since the nifty video was posted, it has already racked up over 90,000 views and TikTok users are eager to try the trick.

One user stated: ‘What a deal.’ While another said: ‘Yes please.’

Asked if she has tried the route yet, Ms Carr told MailOnline: ‘Not yet! We were planning on doing it in November, but I’m pregnant now, so we’ll wait until the pregnancy is better established before we go! Maybe in January.’

For those who want to try the trip themselves, she advised packing light to avoid extra costs like baggage fees and said she often flies with just a backpack.

She said: ‘It keeps the trip super cheap and makes it really easy to travel between multiple destinations.’

As a final piece of advice, Ms Carr said: ‘Make sure you book flexible accommodation because if a flight is canceled or delayed and you need to change your plans, you won’t have to pay extra costs. Always book travel insurance, because traveling is not without risk!’
