But to the surprise of many Maccies regulars, the giveaways are not part of the Monopoly promotion.

McDonald’s is giving its fans the chance to win a host of prizes through the Winning Sips competition, which returns for its second year.

All you have to do to be in with a chance of winning is buy a medium or large soft drink.

The competition is different from the McDonald’s Monopoly game, which runs for six weeks in the fall each year.

Fans have taken to social media to react to the news that Winning Sips is returning.

One Facebook user said: “I haven’t heard of this game before but hopefully have a better chance of winning something than with their monopoly.”

Another asked: “I’m confused. Is this Monopoly or something else?”

While a third tagged his friend and said: “Is it Monopoly again?”

There are millions of prizes to be won through Winning Sips, including McDonald’s menu favourites, festival tickets, McDonland’s merchandise and cash prizes – including a guaranteed £10.00 per week.

To find out if you’re a winner, simply purchase a medium or large soft drink and remove the sticker on the cup to reveal an Instant Win prize or App Play game feature.

If you peel to reveal an App Play game item, it means you can scan the code in McDonland’s App for another chance to win.

This year there is a new element to the game where players can score a whopping 1,500 My McDoanld’s Rewards points when they peel and play seven times in the McDonald’s app with Bonus Sip.

This means customers have enough for a free medium cold drink and another chance to win big.

App Play is available on the McDonald’s App and customers can participate by downloading from Google Play or the Apple App Store.

The Winning Sips promotion was first launched in March 2023, ahead of the annual return of the popular McDonald’s Monopoly game.

McDonald’s Monopoly is another popular promotion that has been around since 2005 and works in a similar way to the classic board game.

Customers collect game pieces when they purchase specific McDonald’s products, such as color-coordinated street names or train stations.
