Queen of Bhutan is stunning in new portraits released to mark her 33rd birthday

Bhutan has released two new portraits of its glamorous queen to mark its 33rd birthday.

Jetsun Pema, wife of King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, celebrates her birthday with her family.

To mark the occasion, the Bhutanese royal family has released two beautiful portraits of the monarch’s wife Instagramwhere she can be seen posing in a garden.

The Queen, who married her husband in 2011, is the mother of two sons, Prince Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck, seven, and Jigme Ugyen Wangchuck, three.

The Queen recently joined world royalty at the wedding of Crown Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa Al Hussein of Jordan earlier this week, and attended King Charles’ coronation in London in early May with her husband.

In one of her birthday portraits, the mother of two can be seen pensively posing in the shade of a tree.

She is dressed in an elegant fuchsia jacket with square sleeves and a collar in a lighter shade of pink.

The discreet royal also dons a lavish pair of diamond and ruby ​​earrings for the photo, as well as a gold watch.

Her silky black locks fall straight over her shoulder and the royal family appears to be wearing very little make-up, with just a touch of eyeliner and a pink lip for the occasion.

An Instagram post shared on the Queen’s Instagram account read: ‘On the special occasion of Her Majesty de Gyaltsuen’s 33rd birthday, the people of Bhutan offer our unwavering love, admiration and gratitude to our beloved Queen.

“Our prayers remain eternally devoted to the well-being and happiness of Her Majesty.”

She recently put on a very elegant display at the wedding of the Crown Prince of Jordan earlier this week.

In early May, Jetsun and King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck also traveled to London, where they attended King Charles’ coronation at Westminster Abbey, as well as a reception for foreign heads of state.

King Jigme, the hugely popular fifth Druk Gyalpo, studied in the UK and the US and ascended the throne in 2006, aged just 26 after his own father abdicated.

Unlike his son, who is planning a monogamous marriage, the former king, who introduced democracy to Bhutan during his reign, has four wives, all sisters whom he married on the same day.

But despite his own upbringing, the current monarch has made it clear that he only intends to have one wife, whom he married on October 13, 2011, when she was still a student of international relations at Regent’s College in London.

The match made headlines at the time because the young king was more openly affectionate with his wife than the citizens were used to – leading the pair to be dubbed “the William and Kate of the Himalayas.”

However, the king’s very public displays of affection – including kissing his wife on the cheek and holding her hand – were well received by young people, with many even choosing to follow the example of the royal family.

The couple have an unusually close family, with the King’s sister and brother married to the Queen’s brother and sister.

The Queen’s elder sister, Yeatso Lhamo, is married to the King’s brother, Prince Jigme Dorji Wangchuck.
