Record number of police officers dealing with prison backlog caught thanks to Line of Duty-style anti-corruption unit

A RECORD number of prison officers facing delays have been trapped thanks to a Line of Duty-style police team.

The Counter-Corruption Unit, which is compared to the BBC Drama’s AC-12 task force targets screws suspected of romping behind bars.

It is behind a 30 percent increase in the number of prison staff, both men and women, being prosecuted for inappropriate relationships since 2017.

At least forty women a year, mostly young women, are now charged with illegal dealings with scammers.

Last year, 31 female staff members were fired for affairs.

In the previous four years there were only 19.
