Dating in the past?

I have been single for the past four or five years. I had a rocky relationship around age 19 and ended up pretty hurt so I’ve been wary of dating ever since.

Pre date nerves?

Of course a complete stranger had chosen my date for me!

First impression?

He was already in the restaurant when I arrived and he looked so sweet in a dark suit and sunglasses. He looked good and I liked that he was waiting for me and not playing on his phone.

We hugged hello and from the start I thought we were really comfortable together.

Jecoliah, 24, is looking for someone who is honest, humorous, humble and good-looking. She says everything else is a bonus

Easy to talk to?

At first it felt like I was just talking and I wondered when he was going to ask me a question. But I realized he was probably waiting for me to breathe so he could talk.

As I slowed down, the conversation flowed freely. We talked about our backgrounds, he is one of three from East London and I am one of nine from South East London.

I showed him a picture of my family and he didn’t flinch as if to say, “Oh no, she’s already showing me her family.”

We also talked about his career and our taste in music. I was surprised that he liked house music. It shows that you shouldn’t make assumptions about people.

I kissed him on the cheek but wanted to kiss him on the lips

embarrassing moments?

It was someone’s birthday in the restaurant and because I’m a singer, I joined Happy Birthday. I could tell even the man’s family thought it was too loud, but I wasn’t embarrassed – I think Aaron was.

Did the sparks fly?

I like to think so. I was attracted to him and I felt affection from him. After the meal, Aaron suggested we spend more time together, so we walked to a park and sat down on a bench to talk.

At the end I leaned in and kissed him on the cheek to say goodbye, but I really wanted to kiss him on the lips.

Jecoliah enjoyed the date and would like to see Aaron again. She thinks her family would definitely like him and her mother would find him handsome

See him again?

It was a nice appointment. I have a feeling I will see him again, but only if he wants me to. If nothing else, I’ve realized there are some good eggs my age out there.

What do you think he thought of you?

He was quieter than me so it was hard to tell if he liked me. I didn’t feel him flirting, but I got the impression that he enjoyed my company.

Would your family like him?

Oh, 100 percent. My mom would think he’s handsome.

No not really. I’ve never been on a blind date, but I like meeting new people.

WOULD LIKE MEET

Someone kind, caring and a bit quirky and adventurous. A softer type of woman – my ideal is the singer and songwriter Doja Cat, who is unique and different.

First impression?

When she came in she was wearing a cheetah print outfit and had a great smile. She walked over to my table with a confident grin and I sensed we had a definite vibe.

Easy to talk to?

Absolute. She was very open and confident and we talked non-stop in the restaurant for over four hours, although I don’t remember much of what we discussed.

It broke the ice that she was wearing a cheetah print because cheetahs are my favorite animal – I even have a tattoo of a cheetah on my hand.

She’s going to Jamaica soon and that’s where my family is originally from. We talked about the food and the decor of the restaurant. There was no awkwardness and we laughed a lot.

I can’t remember our entire conversation, but that’s a good sign

Embarrassing moments?

At one point she got up to go to the bathroom and ran into a pillar, but she laughed about it, which I liked. She also sang Happy Birthday for another dinner and it was so loud I almost asked her to stop.

Did the sparks fly?

It’s too early to say. I like to take the time to get to know someone, but there was definitely a connection and she’s a really cool person.

See her again?

We exchanged numbers at the end and we talked a bit on WhatsApp since the date, but we didn’t settle anything.

We had a great time though and I wasn’t ready to say goodbye when we left the restaurant so we walked to a park. At the end we got a hug and a kiss on the cheek.

Aaron says he definitely felt a connection with Jecoliah. He thinks his family would like her too, even though she's not his usual type

What do you think she thought of you?

She said she mostly dated older people but it was nice to see she could connect with me because I’m the same age – so she obviously thought there was a connection.

Would your family like her?

Yes, but if I introduce her as a friend, they might be surprised, because she’s not my usual type. The date made me realize I needed to be more open to new people.
