Sian Welby is pregnant! Capital Breakfast host reveals she is expecting her first child after missing This Morning hosting gig
Capital Breakfast presenter Sian Welby announced live on air during Wednesday’s show that she is expecting her first child with fiancé Jake Beckett.
Sian shared the exciting news with radio hosts Roman Kemp and Chris Stark as she revealed her due date in the summer.
The 37-year-old presenter said: ‘I have a little announcement for you! I am pregnant! I don’t know how I managed to hide it from you for so long.
‘The lies, the deception, the mocktails! I couldn’t wait to tell you. This is a whole new journey for me and I want to take you all with me, and don’t worry, I’m not going anywhere!
“This is going to be a lot of fun and I can’t wait to share it with you all.”

Reacting to the news, Sian’s co-host Roman said: ‘Oh my god! Oh buddy, I’m so happy for you and Jake too!’ and Chris Stark said, ‘Is this real? It’s the most exciting news ever!’
Sian was inundated with texts and calls from Capital listeners this morning congratulating her on the news.
Sian will take a break over the summer but return to Capital Breakfast later this year with Jordan North, Chris and Sian.
Sian’s fiancée Jake works for Heart Breakfast as a creative producer alongside presenters including Kelly Brook, Rochelle Humes, Vogue Williams and Emma Bunton.
It comes after she missed out on the coveted This Morning hosting gig, which was awarded to Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard.
Last month the mum-to-be joined Dermot O’Leary to co-present the ITV show, amid claims bashed bosses had declared her the ‘next Holly Willoughby’.
Speak with The sun‘s Fabulous Magazine, Sian explained: ‘I think if you went into a job where someone had been working for years you would get comparisons.
‘I’m obviously not offended by it because I love Holly, she’s an idol to me. I see it as a big compliment! But at the same time I don’t read anything into it.’
The radio presenter added that she is grateful to have had the opportunity to star on This Morning and shared her hopes of returning in the future.

She continued, “It feels like a fever dream now. Did that really happen? And it’s quite addictive, because you get such an adrenaline rush. I did that Monday through Thursday, and on Friday it was a bit of a bummer because I was so high.
‘It was wonderful to see the reactions saying I was a breath of fresh air. Being new to the area, I braced myself for some negativity, but wow, people actually gave me a chance and didn’t just write me off. I was so touched by that.’
Viewers praised her debut when she took over last month, saying she “did a great job” and “made the show fun.”
ITV bosses are also said to be impressed with Sian after a number of appearances on the program as a showbiz reporter.
Sources at the network said she was a “rising star” and they wanted to give her the opportunity to host the daytime show.
One told MailOnline: ‘Sian has many years of presenting experience under her belt, she is very much known as a star of the future.
‘She’s already done really well on This Morning, so bosses felt it was time to give her the reins of the whole show rather than just segments.’
Sian replaced Strictly star Vick Hope on Capital to co-host with Roman and Sonny Jay in 2020.
Sian, originally from Nottingham, started presenting at the age of 19.
She was still working part-time as a shop assistant for New Look when she starred in an advertisement for New! Magazine led to her being noticed by former Channel 5 owner Richard Desmond.
She was unveiled as the new face of Channel 5 News in 2010 and has previously described how she would work as a shop assistant during the day and record online videos in the fitting room after the store closed.
