Buying a new phone can cost hundreds of euros.
But you can keep your gadget in good condition for longer with a few simple steps.
Here’s how to make sure your device goes the distance.
SCREEN SAVER: Dropping your phone is a common accident, so protect your screen with a protector.
This also helps prevent scratches, which can affect the value of the phone if you want to resell it.
Tempered glass screens tend to protect against most damage and are good value for money: buy a pack of four for an iPhone 15 for around £4 on Amazon.
CASE CLOSED: Phone cases are another way to protect your device from bumps.
It is worth investing in a device that can absorb the shock if your device falls.
Try the ESR case for around £13 from Amazon.
Apple recommends removing certain cases when charging devices.
This is because some can generate excess heat, which affects battery life.
If your phone gets warm while charging, remove it from the case.
SUNSTROKE: Protect your phone from high temperatures if you want to keep it in good condition.
Heat higher than 35 degrees can permanently damage the battery capacity. If you are on vacation, make sure you place your handset in a cool place.
Apple warns that charging your phone in a very hot environment can weaken the gadget even further.
BATTERY POWER: Overcharging a device or leaving it completely discharged can negatively impact battery life.
Newer iPhones have optimized battery charging, which will stop charging at a certain point if you leave your handset plugged in overnight.
If your phone does not have this feature, try charging it at other times of the day. And try to keep the charge level above five percent.
Turn it on and off regularly to give your device the necessary reset to keep it running smoothly.
