Taylor Swift was “immediately” willing to participate in what became one of them Saturday evening live‘s most memorable sketches from season 47.

SNL writers Ben Marshall, John Higgins And Martin Herlihy – who are part of the comedy group Please Don’t Destroy – talked about how their collaboration with 33-year-old Swift came about during their Monday, November 6, appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

The musical parody “Three Sad Virgins” – which aired during an episode of the NBC comedy series in November 2021 – starred the Please Don’t Destroy trio as themselves opposite SNL alum Pete Davidson. At the beginning of the sketch, 29-year-old Davidson asks the three comedians if they would like to shoot a music video with him. They excitedly agree, only to discover that the song’s lyrics are on their behalf, labeling them as “three sad virgins.”

Fans raved about Swift’s surprise cameo in the video, in which she performs the bridge.

“We didn’t think she would do it,” Higgins, 27, said Jimmy Fallon on Monday. “We presented it to her and we were like, ‘It’s called ‘Three Sad Virgins,’ you and Pete are making fun of us.” And she immediately said, ‘Yes.’

Meyers recalled Swift pitching her monologue to him and SNL producer Lorne Michaels. “She sings this song, which is not only a beautiful song by a beautiful singer,” he said. “It’s perfect SNL monologue, fully formed. And to this day, I’ve never had one of those moments where someone brings you a fully gift-wrapped gift and it’s exactly what you needed.

Swift has graced the ever since SNL on stage several more times, both in sketch cameos and as a musical guest. In October, a tight end between them and the Kansas City Chiefs ended Travis Kelce made separate surprise appearances during the season 49 premiere amid their budding romance. Swift introduced her friend (and “Karma” collaborator). Ice herb‘s musical performance, while Kelce starred in a skit inspired by the NFL frenzy surrounding his relationship with Swift.

After the show, the couple was spotted holding hands during a date night in New York City. The couple, who have been dating since September, are “very happy” together, a source exclusively revealed We weekly last month.

“Travis is someone for whom it is so different [Taylor],” the insider added. “It’s easy with him. She doesn’t have to worry about anything.”
