Fans were surprised by Antonoff’s claims about the song’s timeline, which would mean Swift wrote the song more than a year before calling it quits with 32-year-old Alwyn. (The couple was together for almost six years before going their separate ways in April.)

“So she felt like this for years,” someone responded via X (formerly Twitter). Another wrote: ‘Insane how she tried to make it with him for a whole year after writing this devastating song.’
