A teenager has put aside the idea of a 9 to 5 job or studying: traveling around the world in an old van.
Jon Purcell, 18, believed to be from the US, has been on the road for just over a year and is currently making his way along the Californian coast.
The nomad lives in an old Volkswagen van that is 54 years old, three times as old as Jon.
Despite the often unglamorous way of life, Jon has no regrets about all the 'crazy' locations he finds himself in, from beaches to forests and waterfalls.
Since taking the plunge, the eighteen-year-old has followed his journeys TikTok and generated millions of views from social media users eager to learn more about his unconventional lifestyle.

Jon explained his current living situation via TikTok. He said: 'I'm 18 years old and I live in a van three times older than me.
“So this is my 1984 Volkswagen Vanagon, but I personally call it home.”
Jon welcomed viewers into his van, with a modest interior consisting of a bed and a small seating area.
“The best thing about life on the road is that I can wake up in crazy places,” he continued.
Jon also recognized the downsides of life on the road, especially the numerous times his van broke down.

Before traveling to California, Jon spent three weeks in Washington's Mount Rainer National Park, a location he described as his “favorite place on earth.”
