My new children’s books were a big Temu fail – the strange translations made me laugh
A mother couldn’t help but laugh when she noticed there was a huge failure in the new children’s books she bought from Temu.
After seeing the strange translations, she said she wouldn’t buy it from Temu.
Camille (@chaosmetcamille) shared the store mistake in a TikTok video.
“I got these books from Temu for my kids, especially my little girl,” she said.
She crumpled up the cloth animal books that also served as toys.
“It makes noise, a little ASMR for you,” she joked.
The mother opened the pages of the book and showed the cartoon drawings of both dinosaurs and animals.
It wasn’t until she started reading the books to her daughter that she noticed some glaring errors.
“I was reading them as we were driving to Yuma to visit my grandparents and I came to a page and I was like, hm,” she said.
She turned a page about caterpillars and showed the next section about chickens.
However, the mother frowned at Temu’s choice of words for the chicken: “C**k.”
“I understand that’s the technical name, but couldn’t we have put a rooster or a hen or a chicken in there?” she said.
In another book titled “Jungle Tales,” she noticed another mistake that made her giggle.
She opened a page with a picture of a cartoon raccoon.
Except it wasn’t a raccoon, it was a “raccoon.”
“I like that one, and Cervus Nippon too,” she said, turning to a page with a cartoon deer.
After looking up the term, she discovered that Temu meant a spotted deer.
‘I mean it was a rough translation. Don’t buy your books from Temu if you want them to learn the right words of things,” she said.
‘Pretty funny. I think my favorite is probably the raccoon.”
