Terrifying video shows $16 million mansions teetering on 150-foot CLIFF-EDGE after landslide plunges meters into ocean
Terrifying images of $16 million mansions hanging from the cliff's edge have emerged after a landslide plunged their gardens into the ocean.
This comes after California hit by two mudslides amid heavy storms last weekend.
The tree luxury Mansions appear to teeter precariously close to the edge of the cliff in Dana Point, a California city located 140 feet above sea level.
The gruesome video shows the aftermath of a recent landslide that hollowed out the backyards of the multimillion-dollar homes.
The part of the cliff where the houses sat, was washed away by heavy rainfall.
But fortunately, the area where the debris fell on Friday was empty.
You can see the mansions hanging atop the unstable ground, as if they were about to plunge 140 feet into the Pacific Ocean.
Below is a beach with a large pile of rocks, sand and mud at the foot of the cliff.
Dana Point resident Jan Cocchiara told locals news station: “I would be concerned if I lived in one of those houses.
“I don't know if it's because of all the developments that the hill has been endangered.”
But the city of Dana Point assured that the homes have been inspected and that no immediate threat was detected.
One of the unnamed homeowners also told Abc7 that his home is safe and has not been red flagged by the city.
The Orange County Fire Authority said there were no calls about the landslide and it was unclear if anyone had been evacuated.
Dana Point City Manager Mike Killebrew also added that debris has not blocked access to the beach.
He said: “There are no structures at risk at this time and it appears there is no impact on the side access to the beach.”
Redfin – a real estate agency – estimates the relative values of the three nearby homes at $15.9 million, $14.1 million and $12.9 million.
The heavy rainfall had caused numerous mudslides and landslides in the region.
That same night, part of a cul-de-sac on Avenida Columbo – just 13 miles south of the opulent mansions – fell about five feet, sending mud and debris at least 150 feet down.
This comes not long after the Los Angeles Fire Department revealed it mudslides damaged two houses while endangering the other seven.
Flash floods and landslides in the Hollywood Hills have created a life-threatening and extremely dangerous situation, according to US authorities US National Weather Service.
