The Other Two has been canceled by Max (formerly known as HBO Max) after three seasons.

The series, which stars Heléne York and Drew Tarver as two millennial siblings struggling to make it when their 13-year-old brother shoots viral internet fame, will conclude with the season three finale, which airs Thursday.

The show’s end comes after staff members filed multiple complaints about the show’s co-creators and showrunners Chris Kelly and Sarah Schneider, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

However, a source tells DailyMail.com that the cult comedy series was not canceled, but rather ended because Kelly and Schneider chose to end its run.

DailyMail.com has reached out to Kelly and Schneider for comment, as well as Max.

Insiders also claimed to THR that the HR complaints against the showrunners had nothing to do with its cancellation.

Sources for the publication confirmed that complaints about Kelly and Schneider related to their alleged behavior both in the writers’ room and on set.

The most serious allegations were made against Kelly, who was accused of verbally insulting the show’s other writers and overworking crew members on set.

Schneider, on the other hand, was accused of enabling his behavior, though it doesn’t appear she was charged with any specific instances of wrongdoing.

However, she was also reportedly the subject of Kelly’s anger.

“As a team they’ve been very destructive, but Chris is also mean to Sarah,” said a source described as a “veteran” of the series.

“Sarah has a toxic professional relationship with him,” another source added.

The two joined Saturday Night Live in 2011 as staff writers, and they were eventually elevated to co-head writers in 2016 for the show’s 42nd season. However, both left at the end of the season.

They were commissioned by Comedy Central to create the pilot for what would become The Other Two in 2017, though the series didn’t premiere on Comedy Central until 2019, switching to Max (then HBO Max) from the second season onwards. Comedy Central stopped airing scripted original shows.

An insider claimed that Kelly and Schneider were haunted by their lack of public profiles, similar to the title characters in The Other Two.

“There’s a lot of Chris and Sarah on the show… I think a lot of their frustration comes from not being on camera,” they said. “These are two people who started out as improvisers. This is a show about people who crave fame. Their friends and colleagues became known. … It’s a lot like the show.”

Another source added that the “toxic” conditions in the writers’ room were a poorly kept secret.

“Other writers tell stories about The Other Two writers’ rooms like other people tell ghost stories,” they claimed.

Tina Fey even appeared to broach the subject in March during a speech at the PEN America Literary Awards. She joked that SNL creator Lorne Michael, who is an executive producer of The Other Two, had helped nurture their rumored behavior when they worked for him on the iconic sketch comedy series.

“Nobody spoils writers like Lorne Michaels,” Fey said. “Lorne, you have unleashed an army of monsters upon the world. You know it, I know it, and The Other Two crew know it – oh, I had to change that. I had to change that. That’s inappropriate. Oh well, it’s not live streaming.’

The season three finale of The Other Two is reportedly designed to serve as a series finale, though it’s unclear if that’s evidence of Kelly and Schneider’s intentions to end the show now, or if Max has accepted the cancellation sufficiently. to give the show a good message. -out.

Kelly and Schneider addressed the end of their series in a joint statement.
