An RV owner has shared her experience of being searched while crossing the Canadian border.
Even though she knew it was a normal procedure, she said it still felt like a violation.
Vanessa (@nomaddiaries) shared the travel experience in a TikTok video.
As she crossed the border, she explained that both of her small houses had been inspected.
“We got to Canada. Both campers were searched and I’ve never been searched before,” she said.
“I’ll tell you right now: it feels like a violation. I know it’s normal that every time you go through customs you have the chance of being searched.’
However, Vanessa was not fully prepared for the magnitude of the trial.
“They touched my stuff and it’s out of place,” she said.
She showed a pile of things she thought were safely stored.
“This was hidden, which surprises me, and the key is somewhere else in the house,” she said.
“Instead of putting this back, he just left it unlocked and put the key back where he found it.”
She was amazed at the mess she found after the inspection, showing drawers full of items strewn throughout her RV.
“I have a whole drawer full of things that I put in my body,” she said, showing off her dresser.
“The idea of some random person being in here and rummaging through there and seeing all the things I have makes me physically ill.
“I cleaned yesterday and my house is a mess. What? I’m just grossed out.”
In the comments, people shared their heartfelt condolences.
“I hope he steps on Lego 20 times a day,” said one commenter.
“Yes, I know the feeling. The bad feeling,” said another.
“My house was robbed once and it was a terrible feeling. But you arrived safely! Time to clean.”
“Canadian customs are the worst. They search everything,” a third agreed.
