Tottenham legend Hugo Lloris 'received £2million handshake from Levy' before transfer

HUGO LLORIS reportedly received a settlement worth up to £2million after leaving Tottenham last year.

The 37-year-old goalkeeper joined MLS club Los Angeles FC on a free transfer in December after falling out of favor in North London.

However, he received a 'golden handshake' just before he made the switch.

According to the Daily emailTottenham chairman Daniel Levy negotiated a settlement for the remaining six months of his contract at £100,000 per week.

Lloris played for Tottenham for over eleven years before moving to the MLS.

He played 444 games for the Lilywhites during his time in North London, keeping 151 clean sheets.

After announcing his departure, Lloris told Spurs fans: “I just wanted to thank you for all your support since day one.

“It has been a great privilege to be one of you and one of your captains for many years.

'I think this is the end of the chapter, but you will always remain in my heart.

“Spurs will always be a special place for me and my whole family and also on their behalf I would like to thank you for all the memories we had together, all the emotions we experienced and I just want to wish you the best.”

Lloris made his last appearance against Tottenham during the club's 6-1 defeat to Newcastle last April.

He was banned by Ange Postecoglou after the manager's arrival last summer and failed to return to the starting line-up.
