Twiggy, 74, looks loved up with her 36-year-old husband Leigh Lawson as they make a rare joint appearance at a fashion exhibition

Twiggy and her husband Leigh Lawson looked as in love as ever as they attended The Biba Story exhibition at the Fashion and Textile Museum on Thursday.

The couple, who have been married for 36 years, put on a cozy display as Leigh, 78, wrapped his arms around his wife as they posed for a photo.

Twiggy – whose real name is Lesley Lawson – looked stylish in a black fitted coat, which she wore with a classic white top and trousers.

The supermodel accessorized her outfit with a pair of purple glasses and a selection of delicate silver chains.

She wore her close-cropped locks in a sleek, loose hairstyle and opted for minimal makeup for the occasion.

Meanwhile, Leigh cut a cool figure in a black velvet pinstripe jacket, which he wore with a paisley scarf, T-shirt and trousers.

During an interview last year, Twiggy cited “happiness” as the secret to her long marriage to her husband Leigh.

Twiggy married the actor in 1988, following the death of her first husband Michael Witney five years earlier.

Twiggy opened up to the September issue of Good Housekeeping because of their past experiences with love. She and Leigh have always been “a little softer” with their romance.

She said: ‘[Leigh and I] have been together for 38 years, which is scary! I think luck has a lot to do with it.

‘When you meet someone, you never know how it will all turn out or what life will bring you.

We’ve both been through things that didn’t work out for different reasons and when you’ve had that experience you’re a little kinder when you meet someone new.”

Considered one of the most iconic supermodels in history, Twiggy first rose to prominence in the 1960s with her piercing blue eyes and beautiful bone structure.

Meanwhile, Leigh cut a cool figure in a black velvet pinstripe jacket, which he wore with a paisley scarf, T-shirt and trousers.

The fashion legend added that Pilates has helped her maintain her slim physique after injuring her back a decade earlier.

She continued: “I severely popped my back ten years ago – I was bending over something and it went into spasm. I spent the week in bed and it really scared me.

‘I went to a wonderful osteopath who recommended Pilates, which I started when I felt better, and it’s the best thing I’ve ever done in my life.

‘I wish I had started earlier. It has changed my life. I do it once a week for an hour with a great teacher and I always tell her, “Rachel, you changed my life!” I’ve really built strength in my core and my back.”

During her interview with the publication, Twiggy also discussed her upcoming West End Show, Close Up: The Twiggy Musical.

“I only get involved in projects that really spark something in me, with people I love and want to work with,” she said.

‘Ben Elton is an old friend and I love him dearly. He is a huge talent, so smart and such a sweet man.

“The musical came about when we were having dinner about six years ago and he said half-jokingly, ‘I have to do your story! It’s a great story set in a great period – I should write it.”

‘All my life I’ve done things I didn’t intend to do. I didn’t plan to become a model. I had absolutely no intention of making a musical film with Ken Russell.

“And I certainly wasn’t planning on being in a big musical on Broadway. I must be angry!’
