TWO Britons have been arrested on the Costa Blanca following the death of a female British pensioner.

One of the detainees is the deceased pensioner’s daughter, 38, and the other is a 73-year-old man who is believed to be a friend.

They are accused of failing to call emergency services after the unnamed woman, 76, was killed in a domestic accident.

Police sources said she suffered the potentially fatal fall three days before she died at the property in Rojales near Torrevieja, south of the British expat hotspot of Alicante.

Civil Guard investigators suspect that they did not call 999 earlier because they were heavily drunk and under the influence of alcohol.

But the pair reportedly insisted they raised the alarm in the early hours of Tuesday morning after realizing the pensioner was dead.

The ongoing research is treated as manslaughter caused by negligence.

It was not immediately clear tonight whether the dead woman had also been drinking before she fell and died.

Civil Guard officials in Alicante are expected to make an official comment later this week.

The update should come after the two British suspects have appeared court for a pre-trial detention hearing.

The man being held is believed to be a friend of the female OAP, but it is not known if he lived at the property.
